Bell and Evans is Hiring a Hatchery Quality Assurance Supervisor Near Fredericksburg, PA

Days: Sunday to Thursday

Hours: 5:30 am - 1:30 pm

Position Summary:

The purpose of Hatchery Quality Assurance Supervisor is to ensure that the hatchery provides an optimal environment for chicks to provide the highest possible quality of chicks entering the grow out farms. Follow and enforce strict biosecurity and animal welfare protocols. This position also trains new incoming technicians in their job responsibilities and works closely with QA Hatchery Superintendent to write policies, programs, and procedures. This is a shower facility. It is also the supervisor’s responsibility to oversee all duties and projects of the QA technicians as well as develop their skills and understanding of the food safety and quality system. The ability to quickly assess risk, lead a team to a decision point and ensure plans are executed are critical skills required to perform this role. Looking for strong candidate with Live processing background, Animal Welfare Program, and strong Environmental Monitoring Experience.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the responsibilities of Quality Assurance lead along with additional responsibilities assigned by the QA Hatchery Superintendent satisfactorily.

  • Assist in training of team members in QA related subjects.
  • CAPA management.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Assist QA superintendent and sanitation supervisor in analyzing data.
  • Temperature monitoring and other quality checks.
  • Verification of hatchery systems.
  • Quality analysis of incoming eggs.
  • Perform feed weight checks.
  • Analysis of unhatched eggs.
  • Perform various quality checks throughout the process.
  • Accurately record data and enter observations into internal system.
  • Lead the collection of water samples, environmental swabbing, air plating & vaccination equipment plating.
  • Analysis of chemicals utilized for hatchery sanitation.
  • Monitor team members for proper work conduct including but not limited to Animal Welfare, Biosecurity, SOP’s, SSOP’s & safety.
  • Maintain a leadership role for the Hatchery Bio-Security Program.
  • Communicate with area supervisors when issues are observed in the production area.
  • Assist in maintaining the PCO program.
  • Support the business with AMS and other regulatory programs.

Qualifications:

  • 3 years’ experience in quality assurance or hatchery.
  • Bachelor Degree of Science preferably in Animal Science or related field
  • Must have good attendance.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English a plus but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the job successfully.
  • HACCP certified preferred.
  • GFSI experience will be plus point.
