Position Description : The Linux Systems Administrator will provide support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of Information Technology systems.
Responsibilities:
- Provides support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems
- Provides support for hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution process
- Configures and manages Linux operating system and installs
- Creates bash shell scripts to aid in system stability and deployment repeatability
- Manages the daily activities of configuration and operation of IT systems
- Provides Tier 1 (Help Desk) problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution of problems
- Optimizes system operations and resource utilization, and performs system capacity analysis and planning
- Provides detailed analysis and feedback to management and internal customers for escalated tickets
- Loads operating system software, troubleshoots, maintains integrity and configures network components
- Provides support for hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution process

Required Skills:
- TS/SCI FS (Preferred); TS/SCI FS Eligible Accepted
- 9 years' experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline; 4 additional years of system administration experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
- 9 years of bash programming experience
- 7 years of Perl/Python programming experience
- 7 years of Linux (Redhat/CentOS 5 or greater) experience
- Knowledge of web technologies (html, xml, Java2E, etc...)
- 3 years of experience with virtualization
- 3 years of experience with Puppet 3 or greater
- Organizational Skills: Can plan and prioritize work. Follows tasks to their logical conclusion and makes sure that everything has been done to the right standard. Good attention to detail.
- Teamwork: Able to enthuse and maintain project interest. Comfortable working both individually and as part of a team. Prepared to challenge ideas within a group in a constructive way.
- Communications: Ability to communicate clearly and efficiently to team members and clients, verbally and in writing. Able to present ideas in a variety of ways depending upon audience and context. Excellent active listening skills.
- Quantitative Management: Ability to determine process measures and track to determine process effectiveness and efficiency.
- Problem Solving: Ability to analyze problems and determine root cause, generating alternatives, evaluating and selecting alternatives and implementing solutions.
- Results oriented : Able to drive things forward regardless of personal interest in the task.
