Our goal is to help children bring their skills up to age level. We teach a variety of skills, including but not limited to: learning to learn, play, social, imitation, and a variety of other skills. Employees/interns are responsible for the carrying out a client's treatment plan. Responsibilities include:
Setting up and implementing programs
Collecting data
Implementing positive behavior support strategies
Teaching independent skills
Ensuring successful learning using prompts and feedback
Preventing and responding to challenging behavior
Interacting professionally with coworkers, supervisors, and families
Other Job Requirements:
Staff are required to have the following knowledge and skills to perform the various roles and responsibilities:
Ability to move as quickly as the client with whom work is being done.
Ability to effectively communicate to coworkers and family members.
Ability to speak English in a manner that individuals with deficits in receptive language may easily understand the words being used.
Ability to understand and repeat/paraphrase directions given by others in English.
Ability to remain calm and neutral in challenging situations.
Ability to accurately read and record objective information as required.
Ability to show compassion and understanding to the clients we work with.
Ability to be culturally responsive to the diverse clientele we serve.
Ability to be flexible in a constant-changing environment
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality about all client activity and family information.
Requirements: no degree or previous experience required. Must be pursuing degree in related human services field. Must be able to submit and pass a background check.
