Begert Stainless Inc. is Hiring an Engineering Manager Near Marshfield, WI

The Design Engineer/Manager is responsible for drafting, including preparing clear, complete, and accurate working plans and detailed drawings from rough or detailed sketches, designs, and/or specifications from the customer. The Design Engineer/Manager plans, organizes, and collaborates with other departments to meet company objectives for scheduling and design and to meet customer and industry standards by performing the following principal duties and responsibilities.

Compensation:

$65,000 - $100,000 yearly

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure designs are created in accordance with the project requirements.
  • Instruct, train, and provide guidance to staff in interpreting customer requirements from drawings and verbal or written specifications.
  • Assess all designs to determine issues and risks.
  • Evaluate existing projects and processes to improve efficiency and performance.
  • Schedule and plan workload to meet completion dates.
  • Provides status reports concerning department activities and work in progress.
  • Collaborate with other departments to effectively produce & maintain technical plans, drawings, and documentation.
  • Review engineering processes, procedures, and resources and implement changes as needed.
  • Maintain production capability in workflow processes through adequate staffing, equipment, and supply management.
  • Works with design and engineering teams in developing problem-solving methods.
  • Evaluates individual and project deliverables and overall team performance.
  • Analyze, forecast, and plan engineering objectives.
  • Maintain ongoing knowledge of all applicable industry standards, requirements, and practices.
  • Anticipate problem areas of engagement and questions that will arise.
  • Communicate progress of engagements, problems, and resolutions to co-workers & customers.
Qualifications:
  • Education and Experience: Must have an associate degree with a minimum of 6 years experience in design of pressure vessels and/or a bachelor’s (4-year) degree with 4 years experience in design of pressure vessels and/or a minimum of 10 years experience in the design of pressure vessels and/or a Certified Engineer, certified via (IPEA), (APEC), or (FEANI). Must be able to draw/create blueprints for manufacturing.
  • Knowledge and Understanding: Manufacturing processes, human resource processes, quality systems standards, OSHA compliance, best management practices, develop and track key performance indicators, business and financial principles.
  • Strategic: Develops a strong understanding of company goals and direction and is able to contribute to future planning. Sees the overall purpose of each role in the company and is able to determine proper functions and interventions when needed.
  • Mathematical: An in-depth knowledge of physics, engineering, and mathematics to ensure that designs are feasible.
  • Constructive Exchange: Has the ability to solicit, process, and integrate inputs and ideas from peers and executives. Recognizes areas of conflict or disagreement and deals with them through open and honest dialogue. Effectively provides feedback.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in computer-aided design (CAD) and engineering software and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Oral Communication: The individual speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations. Effective in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Written Communication: Writes clear, precise, well-organized letters, proposals, and emails when necessary. The individual edits work for spelling and grammar and is able to read and interpret written information. Uses appropriate vocabulary and grammar.
  • Team Building: Achieves cohesion and effective team spirit with subordinates. Sustains an environment characterized by open, honest working relations where differences are constructively addressed rather than ignored, suppressed, or denied. Can delegate and empower those that show the ability to take on more responsibility. Has the ability to solicit, process, and integrate input from management and lower-level staff
  • Planning and Organizing: Establishes expectations and goals and follows through on achieving these expectations and goals. Monitors ongoing company operations and anticipates concerns. Creates contingency plans to ensure ongoing company success
  • Adaptability: The individual adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands, and can deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events. Can think on his/her feet and remain calm in high-stress situations.
  • Dependability: Consistently punctual with minimal absences, follows instructions, and responds to management direction. Commits to hours of work necessary to complete tasks on time or proposes an alternate solution to management.
  • Safety and Security: The individual observes safety and instills a safety culture in their area of responsibility. Follows security procedures and uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Technology: Proficient in the use of computers and computer software. Have a working understanding of all business lines and able to learn and adapt quickly to different technologies.
