Beekeeper is Hiring a Remote Legal Counsel (US Remote)

Beekeeper is an award-winning scaleup company defining a new software category in the Frontline Technology space. On the back of great momentum, we are now looking for a Legal Counsel in North America to join us in this journey. 

As a Legal Counsel at Beekeeper, you will provide legal support and advice to our employees globally. As our first legal counsel based in the US, you will work with the Legal Department in various commercial agreements, projects, initiatives and processes globally. You will support and work closely with our General Counsel, our Legal and Procurement team, external counsel, and important internal and external stakeholders.

Reporting to: General Counsel, who is based in Zurich (Switzerland)

Your Responsibilities

  • Commercial law: Working closely with the rest of the team, you will review, structure, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements such as SaaS agreements, SLAs, procurement agreements, NDAs, partnership agreements, and other technology and commercial contracts. This also includes the development of standard contract templates and terms.
  • Intellectual Property: You will be responsible for managing our intellectual property matters, including securing and defending trademarks and ensuring compliance with third-party intellectual property. 
  • Privacy: You will provide advice on US privacy matters (including state-specific regulations). Familiarity and exposure to GDPR and Canadian privacy regulations are a plus. 
  • General US legal advisory: You will provide general legal advice on matters pertaining to US law (e.g. corporate law, employment law, debt enforcement) and our US operations, including monitoring any legal changes relevant to our business. 
  • Projects: You will handle other project-based work within the scope of the legal department responsibilities on an as-needed basis.
  • Compliance: You will assist in driving compliance through structure, drafting, reviewing, updating, and helping to audit and enforce internal policies and procedures.

What we look for in you

  • JD from a US ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admission to a State Bar.
  • 3 years of relevant experience within an international Tech environment.
  • Proven track record of stakeholder relationship management in a global team, in particular acting as a bridge between our US operations and HQ in Switzerland.
  • Ability to create and foster a team environment and mentality, despite working remotely and independently.
  • Professional enthusiasm and a self-starting mindset to collaborate with colleagues around the globe.
  • Down-to-earth team player with a positive spirit and can-do attitude, whilst comfortable working autonomously.
  • Very strong communication skills, explaining legal concepts for non-lawyers and giving clear advice on complex topics.
  • Strong decision-making skills paired with self-confidence and resilience (can challenge requests from internal and external stakeholders).
  • Independent, hands-on, proactive and pragmatic working style.

Bonus Points

  • Applicants with knowledge of SaaS, Cloud, ICT contracts would be highly advantageous but not essential.
  • Experience in a startup/high-growth environment.
  • Experience with global and multi-jurisdictional challenges. 
  • Additional language skills (especially German).

*For Colorado residents: The base salary range for this position’s level is between $79,475 and $127,500. Our total compensation consists of base salary (depending on education, experience, knowledge, skills, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data), stock options plus several additional benefit coverage including learning and development fund, Home Office Set-up reimbursement and the rest of the benefits you can see here.
