Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Beekeeper to join our team. As a Beekeeper, you will be responsible for the care and maintenance of our bee colonies, ensuring their health and productivity. This is a hands-on role that requires physical strength, attention to detail, and a passion for working with bees.
Duties:
- Maintain and inspect bee colonies to ensure their health and productivity
- Monitor hive conditions, including honey production, disease prevention, and pest control
- Harvest honey and other bee products
- Perform routine hive maintenance, such as cleaning and repairing equipment
- Assist with the transportation of bees to different locations for pollination purposes
- Handle bees safely and confidently, using appropriate protective gear
- Operate heavy equipment for hive relocation or maintenance purposes
- Maintain accurate records of hive inspections, honey production, and other relevant data
Responsibilities include maintaining 5 hives and possible installation of 6 hives.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Beekeeper or in a similar role is preferred
- Knowledge of beekeeping practices, including hive management and disease prevention
- Ability to handle bees confidently and safely
- Physical fitness and the ability to perform heavy lifting and manual labor
- Familiarity with power tools and equipment repair is a plus
- Experience with equine or animal handling is beneficial
- Knowledge of greenhouse or garden operations is advantageous
- Proficiency in operating heavy equipment is desirable
