Bedrock Care is Hiring a Security Desk Officer (PT) Near Philadelphia, PA

Purpose of Your Job Position

The primary purpose of your job position is to provide safety/security to the residents, visitors, staff and the healthcare facility environment and property. It is to be available at the front desk at all times to monitor the building in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, our established policies and procedures and as may be as may be directed by your supervisor.

Delegation of Authority

As Security Officer, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

Job Functions

Every effort has been made to identify the essential functions of this position. However, it in no way states or implies that these are the only duties you will be required to perform. Duties and Responsibilities

Administrative Functions

1. Ability to answer telephone calls to take message, answer questions, and provide information during the evening shifts when the receptionist has left for the night while monitoring the front desk.

2. Operate paging/telephone system as required.

3. Answer telephone; determine nature of call and direct caller to appropriate individual or department.

4. Receive request from within the facility and locate personnel through paging system.

5. Receive inquiries and release information in accordance with established policies and procedures.

6. Maintain a current file/listing of residents by name and room number, emergency phone members of on-call personnel, department extensions, key personnel, etc.

7. Greet visitors. Direct to appropriate office and/or resident room.

8. Give directions/information to visitors, guests, residents, sales representatives, etc.

9. Writes reports of nightly activities or irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.

10. Escort individuals to specified locations and to provide personal protection.

11. Monitor presence and location of sale representatives in the facility.

12. Issue and collect identification badges as representative’s sign in/out.

13. Ensure guests/visitors abide by existing rules and refuse admission to persons as directed.

14. Knowledge of emergency and disaster procedures of the facility. Able to locate the nearest exits, to understand and respond to written or oral instruction in case of an emergency.

15. Able to utilize computer to log non-emergency maintenance work orders and computer/WIFI issues for maintenance work order system.

16. Must be sure front door is locked when not at front desk

17. Other related duties and responsibilities that may become necessary or appropriate.

Staff Development

1. Attend and participate in in-service educational classes and on-the-job training programs as directed.

2. Attend and participate in workshops, seminars, etc., as approved.

3. Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the facility.

4. Attend and participate in annual OSHA and CDC in-service training programs for hazard communication, TB management, and bloodborne pathogens standard.

Safety and Sanitation

1. Follow all established safety procedures and precautions when operating office equipment.

2. Report equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to your supervisor as soon as possible.

3. Follow established regulations governing the use of labels and MSDSs for hazardous chemicals within the department.

4. Follow established ergonomics policies and procedures governing lifting techniques, repetitive tasks, and the use of safety equipment and supplies to prevent work-related injuries and illnesses.

5. Report all unsafe/hazardous conditions to your supervisor immediately.

6. Other(s) that may become necessary/appropriate to assure that the facility is maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary manner.

Equipment and Supply Functions

1. Ensure administrative supplies have been replenished in work areas as necessary.

2. Use office supplies in an efficient manner to avoid waste.

3. Request repairs for office equipment as necessary.

4. Ensure that work/assignment areas are neat, clean, and office equipment is covered before leaving such areas on breaks, end of work day, etc.

Resident Rights

1. Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information to assure resident rights are protected.

2. Knock before entering a resident's room.

3. Ensure that resident's rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints, are followed.

4. Working Conditions

5. Works in office areas as well as throughout the facility and its premises.

6. Moves intermittently during working hours.

7. Is subject to frequent interruptions.

8. Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, visitors, etc.

9. Works beyond normal working hours, week-ends and holidays, and on other shifts as necessary.

10. Is subject to call-back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).

11. Attend and participate in continuing educational programs.

12. Communicates with nursing, and other department personnel.

13. Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the work day, as well as reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants.

14. Is subject to pressure from multiple/emergency calls.

15. Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.

16. May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.

Educational Requirements

Must possess, as a minimum, a high school grade education or its equivalent.

Experience

Basic knowledge of skills necessary to perform required duties. On the job training provided.

Specific Requirements

1. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

2. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action and to remain calm during emergency situations.

3. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public.

4. Must be knowledgeable of administrative practices, procedures, and guidelines.

5. Must possess a cheerful personality and be able to work harmoniously with other personnel.

6. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.

Physical and Sensory Requirements

(With or Without the Aid of Mechanical Devices)

1. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day.

2. Must be able to speak and write English language in an understandable manner.

3. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.

4. Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.

5. Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility which include a medical and physical examination.

6. Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with other personnel.

7. Must have a pleasant speaking voice.

8. Must be able to push, pull, move, lift and carry.

9. May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
