Art Teacher

Description:

The Digital Art Teacher will be responsible for developing in each student an interest in and the ability for creative expression in visual terms, using skills and techniques of artistic expression consistent with school guidelines; to develop aesthetic understandings and appreciations; to discover and develop talents of students in the field of art.
The preferred candidate will have proficiency teaching digital photography and knowledge of digital editing software such as Affinity Photo or Photoshop.

Responsibilities:

Build positive relationships with students in support of their academic, functional, and social development.

Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.

Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students.

Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.

Assess the accomplishments of the students on a regular basis and provide timely progress reports.

Plan instruction based upon explicit goals regarding what students should know and be able to do.

Create or provide learning experiences that develop students’ abilities and require the application of thinking and functional skills.

Employ a variety of instructional strategies that consider individual learning styles and performance levels.

Assess student learning on a regular basis using multiple forms of formative assessment in order to measure a child’s functioning in the relevant developmental domains.

Use formative and summative assessment data to inform instruction; provide reports of student progress as needed.

Create a classroom-learning environment that is engaging, orderly, secure and appealing for students and in which mutual respect is shown.

Plan a program of study that, to the extent possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.

Apply relevant content knowledge to the subjects taught.

Apply knowledge of child growth and development to effectively address the needs of students.

Additional Information:

Master's Degree 

Massachusetts licensure appropriate to area of assignment
