A strong candidate for this role will be a motivated self-starter who can confidently push projects through to completion with minimal supervision. You will be expected to jump in and start contributing quickly.

This role reports directly to the CEO and will have touchpoints with our marketing, creative, and R&D teams as well as external partners. We are a small team that works quickly and focuses on continuous improvement so prioritization, strong communication, and proactive problem-solving are essential skills.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Concept & Research:
    • Establish brand/product vision, project objectives, and initial budget forecast in partnership with the CEO
    • Identify potential manufacturing partners, conduct preliminary fact finding meetings, gather vendor pricing
    • Conduct and organize consumer surveys & trials
    • Manage sample shipments and partner internally to obtain sample approvals.
  • Project Management:
    • Establish and document a clear project plan and timeline, including benchmarks, deliverables, and deadlines.
    • Delegate team assignments and workflows, prioritizing for speed of execution.
    • Engage partners, outside agencies, and freelancers as necessary and serve as the primary point of contact re: deliverables.
    • Own the follow-through on every step: act with a sense of urgency to obtain all needed approvals, meet and improve project deadlines and push through project bottlenecks to prevent delays.
    • Keep all documentation (vendor resources, contact information, samples and pricing, creative assets) highly organized by building and maintaining a digital library.
  • Product Launch:
    • Work with cross-functional teams including merchandising and marketing to establish product/brand launch plans.
    • Coordinate with Buyer for brand/product onboarding and payment for goods.
    • Take receipt of goods and complete transfer of merchandise to Beautylish for launch.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA or BS)
  • 1-2 years experience in a product development, project management, or similar role preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to build/use complex databases, macros, V-Lookups, PivotTables.
  • Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and prioritization skills: you are responsible for making sure nothing falls through the cracks.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills paired with the knowledge of when to ask questions and seek assistance.
  • Confident and professional communication with internal and external partners, including the ability to create and deliver polished Powerpoint presentations.
  • Ability to translate action to repeatable and well-documented processes, gaining buy-in from all involved parties.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator; graphic design ability/experience a plus.
  • Focus on continuous improvement and openness to feedback and change.
  • General knowledge of the beauty industry (trends, competitors, familiarity with skincare and cosmetics products, basic ingredient literacy).
