Bear Mountain Healthcare is Hiring a RN Unit Manager Near Reading, MA

General Statement of Job Functions: Acts as the extension of the Director of Nursing for the unit assigned. Has 24hour responsibility for the care provided to all residents on their unit.

Minimum Requirements:

Anyone found guilty by a court of law of abusing, neglecting or mistreating individuals are ineligible for employment.

Employee will not consume or be under the influences of alcohol or other controlled substance.

Must hold a valid RN license in the state in which the facility is located.

Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Other languages helpful but not required. Needs to have working knowledge of computers.

At least one year of experience in supervision of peer staff.

Job Function, Responsibilities and Expectations:

Demonstrates ability to apply knowledge of a broad range of Nursing experience to be able to
direct and assess the quality of care being provided to the residents of the unit assigned.

Demonstrates the ability to hire, mentor, and counsel staff all in accordance to the Human Resource policies and state and federal guidelines. Providing at least annual evaluations on a timely basis.

Demonstrates the ability to assess the individual needs of the residents and then through the Interdisciplinary team effect a care plan that addresses the needs and goals of each resident.

Demonstrates the ability to communicate this plan to all care providers in a way that allows assessment of effectiveness of plan and continued adjustment to meet the residents changing needs.

Participates in the completion of the MDS and MMQ assessments as part of the assessment of needs in a timely basis.

Demonstrates the ability to take data documented and assessments obtained and makes a nursing diagnosis. These may need to serve as a working assessment to stabilize residents in acute situations until further medical assistance can be obtained.

Demonstrates the ability to maintain a working relationship and communications with other departments, medical providers, vendors, family and visitors and staff. Utilizing each resource to bring a positive impact to the resident's quality of life.

Makes rounds on each resident on assigned unit daily.

Participates in the CQI program and is able to apply process to daily work and systems of the unit.

Demonstrates the knowledge of and ability to honor the rights and dignity of residents, staff, visitors and community as well as dealing honesty with the residents or facilities property and information.

Ensures the continued compliance of staff with policies and procedures as well as in-service requirements, encouraging additional educational opportunity that enhances skills.

Monitor Performance Standards with the staff and ensure all education/trainings are updated.

Maintains the Bear Mountain code of conduct policies and ensures the staff is following the policies.

Participates in and follows the Ambassador program.

Ensures the QAPI policies and procedures are adhered to.

Ensures the knowledge of the fire and disaster plan as well as the use of personal protective equipment by staff and for themselves.

Monitors the following systems to ensure the quality of life for residents:

•Restraints• Psychotropic use •Infection control •Medication management

Documentation •Care Plan Compliance

Demonstrates the accountability of preparing and staying in compliance with all state and federal guidelines and working to make corrections when issues or cited, preparing all staff on expectation and providing ongoing feedback as to the compliance with these expectations.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Environment: The employee in this position will be required to perform the following activities: walking, standing, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, kneeling, balancing, climbing and stooping. Exposure to blood and or body fluids as well as air borne particles that could cause illness, is moderate to high. The employee will be overseeing the care of residents in excess of 200 pounds and will be asked to assist with care. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds and carry items up to 100 yards is seen as a daily possibility.
