SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for assessing, monitoring, and enhancing business performance for our organization. In this role, you will analyze current practices and develop business process improvements as well as implement changes in workflows, structures, and teams to ensure continuous company performance, while
being responsible for leading and executing 5S and Lean initiatives to drive sustainable improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
To ensure success as a Continuous Improvement/Lean Manager, you should embody top leadership principles and styles, be a skilled communicator and be adept at business analysis and project implementation. An exceptional continuous improvement/lean manager will have technical knowledge of 5S and Lean principles, methodologies, and tools, including but not limited to six sigma, value stream mapping, Kaizen, SMED, standard work, visual management, and root cause analysis. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and analyze manufacturing processes that absorb resources but create minimal value. Study operation methods to improve workflow.
  • Prepare, analyze, and present information on improvement opportunities including each project’s financial impact and savings. Work with management, stake holders, suppliers, and others to identify and facilitate key projects that will improve quality, reduce costs, improve cycle time, and provide optimum benefits to customers and business through waste reduction.
  • Identify and map value streams. Recommend and specify value-creating actions in the best sequence to reduce non-value-added practices. Provide feedback on efforts to convert non-value-added actions into value.
  • Drive improvement initiatives that result in better material flow, reduced rework, and improved metrics to meet department goals and objectives.
  • Work closely with frontline supervisors and operators to identify opportunities for improvement and implement practical solutions to eliminate waste, improve workflow, and optimize processes.
  • Facilitate hands-on training sessions and workshops to educate employees on 5S and Lean principles, tools, and techniques, and provide coaching and guidance to ensure understanding and application.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to implement standardized work processes, visual management systems, and performance metrics to sustain improvements and drive accountability.
  • Lead Kaizen events and rapid improvement projects to address specific challenges or opportunities for improvement, utilizing data-driven methodologies to achieve measurable results.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and other support functions to address equipment reliability issues, optimize maintenance processes, and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost, and develop actionable insights to drive continuous improvement and achieve operational excellence.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a “best in class” continuous improvement strategy.
  • Manage project activities including communication, project timeline, meeting facilitation, data gathering, data processing, utilizing lean tools and solution implementation and follow up. Prepare reports and updates to management on continuous improvement projects, results, and processes. Actively participate in and perform tasks as outlined in the lean events. Work across division functions to facilitate project completion.
  • Identify trends and process variations as part of establishing a continuous improvement monitoring system.
  • Maintain lean practices and continuous improvement to reduce effort, time, space, cost, and mistakes.
  • Support the delivery of better value and greater efficiency through the identification and elimination of unnecessary complexity within business processes and identification of better ways of working.
Education and/or Experience
  • Minimum accredited Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, preferably Black Belt
  • Minimum 5-7 years proven continuous improvement analytical experience from a similar
role, including project management and business analysis.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience leading 5S and Lean initiatives in a manufacturing or operational environment, with a proven track record of driving measurable results.
  • A bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, process management, or operations management, or similar field of study.
  • A strategic and analytical mindset.
  • An excellent communicator with top-notch presentation skills.
  • A thorough understanding of the latest process improvement strategies.
