Role Summary:
The IT Director is responsible for analyzing current systems and assets, recommending, and implementing solutions and upgrades, and providing training. Our ideal candidate has extensive knowledge of network maintenance, experience managing staff, and advanced industry knowledge to keep us on the cutting edge. From day one, the day-to-day efficiency of our IT operations, and an ongoing impact on our overall growth. This role involves leadership as well as hands-on experience in all areas of IT as needed.
Objectives of this Role
  • Define IT infrastructure strategy, architecture, and processes.
  • Analyze business requirements by partnering with key stakeholders across the organization to develop solutions and IT requirements.
  • Lead IT projects, including the design and deployment of new IT systems and services.
  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies, hardware, and software.
  • Assess vendors and develop strategies for testing new hardware and software.
  • Monitor performance of information technology systems to determine cost and productivity levels, and to make recommendations for improving the IT infrastructure.
  • Maintain essential IT hardware, software, and services such as: server and client operating systems, endpoint hardware (including laptops, desktops, tablets, and handheld scanners), telephony-related equipment, and enterprise applications - including cloud productivity suites, ERP, etc.
  • Handle business-critical IT tasks and systems administration.
  • Drive eCommerce website initiatives - optimization, evaluation of existing platform as compared to best-in-class alternatives.
  • Drive data feeds and exports used with third parties.
Recurring Responsibilities
  • Analyze department needs, identify vulnerabilities, and boost productivity, efficiency, and accuracy to inform business decisions.
  • Ensure network components meet needs and work together seamlessly, using the full range of capabilities, and stay informed about new features and competitive solutions.
  • Continuously analyze current process, technologies, and vendors to identify areas of improvement.
  • Prepare cost benefits analysis reports when upgrades are necessary, continuously analyzing vendors to ensure they offer the best possible service and value for company needs.
  • Oversee ERP maintenance, data updates, and upgrades.
  • Educate and train users on safe and appropriate use of Company technology and tools.
  • Develop and continually update disaster recovery and business continuity policies and procedures - including regular testing cadences.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in technology or computer science, or business administration.
  • 5 years' experience in IT management.
  • Experience working with a hybrid IT team - internal company team members as well as an MSP.
  • Hands-on experience managing Microsoft operating systems including Windows 10/11, Windows Server 2019/2022.
  • Hands-on experience managing a hybrid Microsoft Active Directory environment.
  • Experience with VMware 7.x/8.x
  • Hands-on experience managing multiple productivity platforms including M365 and Google Suite.
  • Experience managing enterprise telephony/PBX systems.
  • Strong understanding of network related systems - ethernet switching, Wi-Fi management, firewalls with multiple ISPs via SD-WAN.
  • Fundamental data center operations experience including power, cooling, and cabling.
  • Expertise in implementing, configuring, and testing solutions.
  • Strong systems analysis skills and project management experience.
  • Front end ERP usage and back-end ERP system management - Sage 100 preferred
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to communicate appropriately at all levels of the organization with the ability to influence others to move toward consensus.
  • Strong situational analysis and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, organizational, and speaking/communication skills. Able to effectively communicate visualizations & ask the right questions.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks with tight deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, result-driven & growth-oriented environment.
  • Excellent independent problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work with little supervision and make independent decisions.
  • Demonstrated track record of attention to detail.
  • Ability to evaluate the technology solutions to the business needs of the organization and find the best possible tools/partners to meet those needs.
  • Solid customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.
  • Proven track record in working collaboratively with executive team to solve business problems.
