Bayou City Dermatology is Hiring a Mohs Histology Technician Near Houston, TX

We are a busy dermatology office seeking a skilled and experienced histotechnician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in Mohs surgery and be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine and complex histological procedures, including tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, and cover-slipping
  • Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies
  • Perform quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure accuracy and precision of test results
  • Perform inventory management and ordering of supplies
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of laboratory procedures and patient information
  • Communicate with dermatologists and other medical professionals to ensure accurate diagnosis and treatment of patients
  • Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment
  • Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements and accreditation standards
  • Assist with the preparation of histology and cytology specimens for diagnosis by a dermatopathologist
  • Prepare and process tissue specimens for histological examination, including embedding, cutting, and staining
  • Perform routine laboratory maintenance and quality control procedures
  • Enter data and maintain patient records in laboratory information systems
  • Communicate with dermatopathologists, other laboratory personnel, and clinical staff regarding specimen preparation, testing, and results
  • Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in Histotechnology or related field
  • Experience in Mohs surgery
  • Strong knowledge of histology laboratory procedures and techniques
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
