Position Overview

BayCare Health System GME at St. Joseph’s Hospital (SJH) in Tampa, FL, and Excelis Medical Associates (EMA) seek a highly qualified board-certified emergency physician for an inaugural Program Director position.

The Emergency Medicine residency program at SJH is a PGY1-PGY3 program with 6 residents per PGY class.

Excelis Medical Associates is a physician-owned, democratically operated, emergency medicine group with over 45 years of emergency medicine experience and expertise with trauma systems, critical care, and observation medicine. Established in 1934, St. Jospeh’s is a non-profit hospital and pilar in the Tampa community. SJH is a Level II Trauma Center and receiving facility with the highest Emergency Department volume in the Tampa Bay Area.

Opportunity Requirements:

  • Responsible for the leadership, organization, operation, and administration of the Emergency Medicine Residency Program, welcoming its first class in 2025.
  • Establish the strategic direction of the program while maintaining the standards, quality, and reputation of the hospital and group.
  • Integrate the program with physician practices and hospital services to enhance value and quality and promote an optimal environment for professional training and medical education.
  • Follow ACGME /Emergency Medicine RC requirements and other regulating entities on structuring and managing the Emergency Medicine residency program.
  • Plan and direct activities associated with the residency program.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • American Board of Emergency Medicine certified.
  • Valid M.D. or D.O degree.
  • Licensure to practice medicine in Florida or eligibility for such licensure.
  • 3 years of teaching experience within a GME residency program
  • 3 years of leadership experience.Ongoing involvement in scholarly activity, including peer-reviewed publications,
