Bay View Community Center is Hiring a Family Resource Associate Near Milwaukee, WI

About the Position:

We are currently seeking a compassionate and skilled Family Resource Associate to join our dynamic team. This individual will play an important role in implementing developmentally appropriate programming and structure to our Family Drop-In and other FRC programming. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education and a passion for working with families to promote child development and family well-being.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements culturally appropriate activities and experiences tailored to the needs of children and families.
  • Conducts assessment of children’s growth and development.
  • Encourages family participation and provides community resource information to parents.
  • Participates in curriculum planning and implementation that supports the needs of children and youth.
  • Facilitates and actively engages children and their parents in structured and free-choice activities, gross motor play time, snacks, and related activities.
  • Schedules programs and activities within the FRC.
  • Maintains open and effective communication with parents, team members, and program facilitators.
  • Collaborates with the Parent Advisory Committee to empower parents and assist them with parent-led activities.
  • Attends outreach events.
  • Facilitates parenting classes.
  • Assists with FRC reports as needed. 
  • Models appropriate behavior at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including cleaning/sanitizing the Family Resource Center, assisting in event management and planning.
  • Supports goals of BVCC and its mission in the community.
  • Available to work flexible hours to accommodate the needs of the program and families.

Education:

  • Minimum of high school diploma or GED required; Early Childhood Education, Associates or Bachelors degree preferred.

Experience: 

  • A minimum of 2 years of professional experience working directly with families.
  • Experience in implementing developmentally appropriate programming in early childhood education settings.

Essential Skills and Abilities:

  • Relates well to all kinds of people and is approachable.
  • Ability to navigate sensitive situations and maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster diversity, cultural relevance, and inclusion.
  • Bilingual fluency in speaking English and Spanish is preferred.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to obtain transportation to occasional off site activities.
  • May be responsible to move, lift or support up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be capable of the manual dexterity required to use and operate a computer, telephone, copy machine, writing implements and other varied office equipment.
  • Must be able to speak clearly and hear to communicate with people in person or over the telephone.
  • Must have accurate vision to read paperwork and computer screens.
