Bay Mills Indian Community is Hiring a Clinic Coordinator Near Brimley, MI

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Clinic Coordinator is directly responsible for the oversite of clinic operations for Bay Mills Health Center medical, dental, pharmacy, and vision departments as well as satellite locations. The employee is responsible for planning and carrying out assignments directly related to patient services in these departments; resolving conflicts which arise; coordinating the work with others as necessary.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Works closely with Health and Human Service Director and Assistant HHS Director on Budgeting, Strategic Planning, Policy Development, HRSA Applications, Organizational Development and identify additional financial resources that align with the Mission and Vision of the Health Center.
  • Provides administrative supervision for Chief Medical Officer, Chief Dental Officer, Chief Optometric Officer, Nursing Supervisor, Business Office Manager, and Pharmacy Director.
  • The Clinic Coordinator is responsible for the retention and recruitment of Licensed Independent Providers and other Licensed Providers; works closely with all responsible parties to ensure all Credentialing and Privileging is in compliance with regulating agencies.
  • Establishes, in collaboration with department heads, protocol for management of specific acute, chronic illness and prevention either as standing order or open-ended by tasks specific detailed protocol.
  • Provides management for all clinic operations including scheduling, patient flow, staff orientation, etc.
  • Works with Business Office Manager to ensure maximum third-party reimbursements.
  • Monitor staff training needs.
  • Responsible for assuring that a consistent effort is applied to monitoring/evaluating, employee job results.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, which pertain to the clinic operation, such as OSHA, Joint Commission, Office of Inspector General and Office of Management and Budget.
  • Function as the Compliance Officer, developing and implementing a comprehensive and effective compliance program.
  • Assumes responsibility for the development and implementation of an annual plan, which identifies objectives and activities for clinic services including Patient Centered Medical Home.
  • Oversees public relations of clinic in the service area, i.e., advertisements of services, digital and media marketing, etc.
  • Establishes and maintains working relationships with other area health care providers and/or agencies such as MyMichigan Sault Hospital and the Michigan Primary Care Association.
  • Submits all required reports in a timely manner.
  • Works closely with providers to develop preventative care initiatives for diabetes and hypertension management as well as other chronic disease management.
  • Provide oversite of operations for satellite health center locations, including, but not limited to: Mitigoons and Zaagigi.
  • Must attend all mandatory or departmental training offered by the Bay Mills Indian Community and the Bay Mills Health Center.
  • Other duties may be assigned within the scope and complexity of this position’s essential functions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. This position may require extensive travel, which may require driving long distances. The work performed is in an office setting with adequate lighting, heating, and ventilation.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in health related field required, a Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration or related field preferred.
  • Three years related experience in Health Care Administration required, including direct supervision experience.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in working with human resources, personnel recruitment, supervision, and evaluation.
  • Must have excellent communication skills: both written and verbal.
  • Must have a positive, outgoing personality with excellent human relations and communications skills.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize work and resources, meet deadlines and produce quality results on time with attention to detail.
  • As an exempt employee, this position will need to be flexible to ensure projects are completed, and will need to be responsive to community needs.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to travel.
  • Must have an excellent past work record as demonstrated through past personal and professional references.
  • To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each function listed under the essential functions and physical demands categories of this position description.
  • The incumbent must be free of any criminal record, relative to their interactions with individuals or communities in accordance with applicable State and Federal laws or requirements.

PREFERENCE: Pursuant to Bay Mills Indian Community Policies and Procedures §202.6, preference will be given to those of Native American descent.
