Title: Medical Office Patient Service Representative
Full-time: Monday - Friday
Position Summary: Member of the front office team providing check in, check out and scheduling services to our patients. Obtains information, answers questions and provides direction and assistance to anyone entering BAHC. Servicing the needs of those patients, referring doctors and business affiliations contacting the office via phone. This position varies slightly depending on where the receptionist is located in the office. Check in front desk, diagnostic, check out, scheduling primary, scheduling secondary, greeter/operator.
Primary Functions:
1. Greet patients as they are entering BAHC.
2. Check in / Check out
3. Collect Copays as indicated by billing dept.
4. Answer phones and triage calls, Route to proper personnel.
5. Schedule appointments according to practice guidelines.
6. Confirm appointments when the automated system is not successful.
7. Check Voicemails and return calls that were left outside of office hours.
8. Check Nuclear, Ultrasound, HM for large gaps and condense when possible.
9. Send non urgent cases to triage with clinical questions from patients.
10. Collect Insurance Information and input into EMR for billing to verify..
11. Sending orders along with necessary records to parties outside of BAHC that we
referred patient too ( Specialists, Cardiac Rehab , etc ) .
12. Scheduling Diagnostic testing and follow ups .
13. Working on the desktop.
Secondary Functions:
1. Assist other receptionists with check-in, check-out and scheduling
patients.
2. Building charts when patients are new to the practice from the Hospital.
3. Keep the lobby Neat , Clean and Tidy.
4. Any other duties as directed by any supervisors.
Safety Standards:
Employee follows guidelines, policies and procedures as stipulated through
Orientation process and as outlined in manuals: Bloodborne Pathogens, Safety and
Emergency Preparedness, Hazardous Material, TB manual, Bio-medical waste
management.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED, previous work experience in office environment, enjoys
patient contact, greets patients with a smile and has a pleasant disposition, portrays
professionalism on the phone and in person.
Computer experience and previous medical office involvement is helpful but not
required.
General Skills:
1. Ability to read and understand documents and records
2. Ability to write and prepare documents and reports
3. Ability to understand and perform math computations
4. Ability to learn how to use various office and computer equipment
