Master Production Scheduler / Capacity Planner

Job Description:

The Master Production Planner is a key member of the Supply Chain Supply Planning team reporting directly to the Supply Chain Manager or Director of Supply Planning. The Master Production Scheduler Planner / Capacity Planner will be responsible for overseeing the production scheduling process while also managing production capacity to ensure optimal resource utilization and meet customer demand. This role will also develop and track capacity planning to assist in leveling finite production plans, identify long-term capital and labor requirements, and participate in the S&OP processes. The Master Production Planner will support the Supply Chain Manager and Director of Supply Chain Planning to execute the vision and goals for the inventory planning function.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain the master production schedule to align with customer demand, inventory targets, and production capacity constraints.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, sales, procurement, and logistics to coordinate production activities and optimize resource utilization.
  • Develop and conduct capacity analysis to identify production bottlenecks, constraints, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement strategies to maximize production efficiency, minimize lead times, and optimize inventory levels.
  • Monitor and track production performance metrics, capacity utilization, and adherence to schedule targets.
  • Anticipate and proactively address potential capacity constraints or production disruptions.
  • Analyze demand forecasts, production schedules, and inventory levels to support inventory optimization initiatives.
  • Provide regular reports and updates on production performance, capacity utilization, and schedule adherence.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by participating in cross-functional teams and implementing best practices in production planning and capacity management.
  • Develop and facilitate S&OP Supply Reviews for manufacturing sites as it relates to supply and planning for inventory and distribution.
  • Ensure timely and cost-effective stock replenishment from production sites into warehouses.
  • Provide daily updates to internal and external stakeholders regarding order status exceptions that may result in customer stock-outs.
  • Lead and participate in internal cross-functional supply chain projects that impact service and costs.
  • Review and manage key master data and supply chain parameters in ERP (MS D365, JDA, etc.)
  • Identify trends and gaps by product class and make recommendations to sellers to improve selling strategies.
  • Collaborate with Product Management and Demand Planning to provide necessary analytics for monthly demand planning meetings with Sellers.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Supply Chain Planning.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in production scheduling, capacity planning, or operations management.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement is a plus.
  • Certification in production and inventory management (e.g., APICS CPIM) is desirable.
  • Strong working knowledge of Supply Chain (S&OP/IBP planning)
  • Experience in analyzing data to perform Root Cause Analysis, ROI, and Cost Benefit Analysis
  • Strong mathematical and statistical knowledge
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency, ownership, commitment and focus to meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to play a key and influential role in cross-functional settings and with diverse stakeholders internally and externally
  • Ability to model the Company’s values of respect for people, teamwork, and continuous improvement

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain or related field or five years of equivalent experience in supply chain within a food ingredient or food manufacturing business with demonstrated food supplier knowledge.
