BASIC FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITY:
Support and assist the Director of Operations in managing the operations of the Child Nutrition Program to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations. Specifically, oversee operations of procedures and software systems. Assist with fiscal management and act as a liaison between the district and the Food Service Management Company.

Entry Qualifications:

Minimum Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field OR high school diploma and additional experience in school business/child nutrition may be considered in lieu, or in combination with, degree.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:


Manage Student Nutrition Office Functions:

  • Assist the director in ensuring that the Student Nutrition Office and Operations are supportive of the instructional goals of the district.
  • Maintain written procedures of cafeteria and office activities and processes.
  • Assist in facility planning and equipment specification and selection.


Fiscal Management / Financial Accountability / Facilities Management:

  • Assist with preparation and administration of the budget and monitor throughout the year.
  • File a monthly claim and DC Report with the Texas Department of Agriculture for reimbursement.
  • Assist Director of and Field Supervisors in selecting and purchasing food service equipment and designing facility upgrades.
  • Oversee and monitor the Summer Food Service Program.


Implement / Maintain System Software:

  • Oversee the upgrades for district-level POS and office software annually as needed.
  • Ensure software programs are operating in compliance to all laws and regulations.
  • Monitor utilization of software systems to ensure compliance and efficiency, including POS, all back office software, free and reduced application processing, and inventory and nutrition analysis.


Professional Development:

  • Attend professional growth activities to keep abreast of innovative techniques and changing laws and requirements.
  • Attend seminars and classes to increase and maintain knowledge of laws that govern food service management.
  • Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities.
  • Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Accounting:

  • Prepare purchase orders and payment authorizations; manage nutrition applications and correspondence with families regarding payments and refunds.
  • Works collaboratively with campus principals to create breakfast and lunch services and resolve issues.
  • Assists in the development of long and short-range objectives and goals on various food service strategic plans and projects for the District.


Policy, Reports, Law:

  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local law, State Board of Education rules, and local Board policy.
  • Compiles, maintains, and files appropriate reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Adheres to legal, ethical, and professional standards.


Minimum Experience:

  • Four years of experience in a school food service administrative environment

  • Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills

  • Knowledge of menu planning and food purchasing
  • Knowledge of Federal School Meal programs and regulations
  • Knowledge of cost control and financial reports
