BASIC FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITY: Assist the Director of Multilingual Program with District-wide Emergent Bilingual (EB) documentation, record keeping, and Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC) processes, procedures, and training; and Title 3 parental engagement activities as required for emergent bilingual (EBs) students.
ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma
  • Four (4) years of preferred experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Google Docs and e-mail
  • Strong organization, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (reading, writing, and speaking)
  • Familiar with databases such as Ellevation and Skyward

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Support campuses to engage families of EBs
  • Planning district-wide events for families of EBs
  • Connect/collaborate with community stakeholders to promote the vision and mission of the multilingual department
  • Plan district parental engagement programs/activities to meet the Title 3 requirements

    • family engagement
  • Attend professional development sessions by vendors and agencies related to language assessments
  • Provide professional development/clerical support to campus LPAC paraprofessionals
  • Support campus submission of EB documents in Ellevation
  • Collaborate with District and campus registrars to ensure accurate coding of EB students.
  • Conduct audits of campus LPAC documents in the student’s cumulative records such as, but not limited to:
    • Home Language Survey
    • Bilingual/ESL/ Permission Letter(s)
    • Language assessments

  • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
  • Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
  • Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
  • Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
