BASIC FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITY: Responsible for the operation of events held at the Bastrop Memorial Stadium complex. Coordinate services with the athletic department and district operations manager to ensure that the stadium is fully operational during events at the complex. Assist district operations personnel with the preparation, operation and monitoring of the facility to include scoreboard and video equipment.
ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Clear and valid Texas Drivers License
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of landscape maintenance
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations
  • Effective organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Methods, materials, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment used in various grounds maintenance activities, including mowing, edging, trimming and weed and pest control.
  • Health and safety regulations related to power equipment and toxic chemical applications.
  • Skill in engaging others in collective inquiry and problem-solving.
  • Operation of assigned equipment.
  • Skill in communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Perform skilled grounds maintenance and repair work.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work responsibilities.
  • Ability to build teams and maintain a positive work environment.

Facility Management:
  • Coordinates, be present for and oversee all events and daily activities to ensure success of all events.
  • Ensure all indoor and outdoor equipment is operable.
  • Facilitate maintenance for the following systems throughout the district:
    • Scoreboard and Clock Maintenance
    • MUSCO Stadium lighting system
    • All other stadium/field lighting.
  • Daily general maintenance of the full site. Press Box, Exterior Buildings, Parking Lot, Grounds, Bleachers, Turf Field, Perimeter fencing, shed, Field event areas, septic area, dumpster, etc.
  • Set up and tear down athletic equipment as assigned.
  • Coordinate and meet with the BISD Athletic Office and Grounds Manager on assignments for each week.
  • Meet all Pre-game and game day expectations. A list will be provided.
  • Keep a clean office space free of clutter.
  • Must be able to access the roof for air conditioning and heating issues.
  • Basic custodial duties to be performed regularly.
Grounds Maintenance:
  • Assist Grounds department with other athletic field maintenance when deemed necessary.
  • Mow, edge, trim and perform Grounds maintenance duties.
  • Performed other duties as assigned.
Safety:
  • Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing.
  • Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to the supervisor.
  • Help keep vehicles, equipment and tools in safe operating condition.
  • Inspect and adjust tools and equipment for safety and efficiency and perform preventative maintenance as needed.
  • Follow safety protocols and emergency procedures.
School/Community Relations:
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, booster clubs and community members.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Provide guidance and direction as assigned.
PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS:
  • Maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Work with frequent interruptions.
  • Use a computer for a prolonged period resulting in repetitive hand motions.
  • Heavy lifting and carrying.
  • Frequent district-wide travel
  • Prolonged or irregular hours.
  • Motion: Frequent walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension and overhead reaching.
  • Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:
  • Outdoor and Indoor Work
  • Exposure to sun, heat, cold and inclement weather.
  • Work outside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces;
  • Frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, rain, dust, noise, vibration; exposure to chemicals (herbicides and fertilizer) and electrical hazards.
  • Work around machinery with moving parts.
