Part-Time Opening for an Experienced Veterinary Receptionist

Bartram Trail Veterinary Hospital is looking for upbeat, detail-oriented individuals that can multi-task in a rapidly growing full-service companion animal veterinary hospital. If you are looking to work with a team you would trust to treat your pets, apply today.

We are seeking an experienced veterinary receptionist for a PART-TIME position. The position requires the completion of a high-school degree or further education, competence in the English language, patience, and a pleasant manner. Ideally, newly hired receptionists will possess computer skills and have had cashier and related front-office work experience. Pay will reflect the level of experience the candidate has. Candidates with work experience and continuing education in the veterinary field are preferred.

Receptionists are customer-relations experts in a veterinary practice. They are the client’s first impression of the practice, on the phone or in person. They must possess strong organizational skills, excellent telephone and in-person communication skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Receptionists must have compassion for animals and their owners and understand the stress that patients and clients endure.

Receptionists require the ability to do the following work:

  • Provide customer service such as greeting customers and answering questions.
  • Answer phone calls, which may involve answering questions, screening, and scheduling appointments.
  • Differentiating routine cases from emergency cases.
  • Schedule appointments and surgeries.
  • Entering client, patient, and financial data using the practice’s software.
  • Processing payments, generating invoices and explaining them to clients.
  • Manage the retrieval and storage of medical records.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail, email, PetDesk requests, and Weave messages.
  • Update and file patient charts.
  • Enter data into a computerized billing program.
  • Process credit card payments and prepare bank deposits.
  • Retrieve prescriptions.
  • Assist with pet supply purchases such as pet food, supplements, and grooming items.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the waiting room.
You should expect to spend nearly all of your workdays at the front desk.

Benefits and Schedule:
Full-time benefits after a 90-day probationary period include designated paid holidays, 75% health insurance, pet care discounts, and uniforms. Paid time off starts after 1 year of employment. Continuing education is encouraged and supported upon approval. Full-time 4 weekday days in conjunction with alternating Saturdays is our standard work schedule.

Workday hours are from 7:45 a.m. until 5:15 p.m. Monday thru Friday and 7:45 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. Saturdays.
