Learn more, at www.barings.com. *as of June 30, 2023 Job Summary Barings is seeking a specialist with structuring and research expertise to support the origination and execution of a variety of residential, consumer and commercial asset backed transactions, as well as developing various risk management frameworks. The role will involve participating in the structuring of various transactions including: new origination flow purchase transactions, warehouse or term financing and securitizations. The role will also require direct engagement in new origination flow pricing and hedging, as well as monitoring of projective model outputs (i.e. prepayment, credit, OAS, effective duration, effective convexity) and portfolio performance. The candidate would work closely with other team members, other parts of Private Assets, legal, regulatory compliance, and internal diligence teams along with other parts of the enterprise. The position will reside in our Charlotte, NC office. Primary Responsibilities Perform due diligence on investment opportunities, which includes market research, on-site evaluation, analytical risk-based modeling and asset valuation work, assessment of legal, regulatory compliance and other risks. Research and model residential, consumer and commercial asset delinquency, default, recovery and prepayment estimates. Support risk management responsibilities including the pricing, hedging and surveillance of new origination and existing portfolio holdings. Develop modeling tools to inform the design of underwriting criteria for purchasing newly originated investments. Review and negotiation of underlying deal documentation, including term sheets. Provide periodic analysis regarding current market conditions, including supply, demand and competitor activity. Creation of analytical presentations and communication of strategic business findings to management Ongoing monitoring of projective model outputs (i.e. prepayment, credit, OAS, effective duration, effective convexity). Assist in the development of the operational processes, maintaining and drafting desk procedures and modeling standards. Collaborate with other members of the investment team and Private Assets to achieve company objectives. Ability and willingness to travel. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of experience in asset backed structuring, research, and capital markets. Must have experience in assessing projective modeling performance (i.e. prepayment, credit). Experience with Intex and Bloomberg, knowledge of programming languages and databases preferred. Excellent attention to detail, and work ethic. Strong written and oral communication skills. Knowledge of focus asset classes and international geographies preferred. Effective communication skills across multiple levels of a diverse organization.
