Baraka Gems is Hiring an Assistant Manager/Sales Associate Near Seattle, WA

Baraka team members must be dog friendly and not allergic. We are a dog-friendly company and hope to have a studio dog soon.

The applicant will have the beginning title and role of Assistant Manager (to grow into over time), along with the specific immediate responsibilities of overseeing Repairs and Customizable Jewelry Sales. It is desired and anticipated that this team member will be prepared to grow into a full Store Manager (with compensatory pay) within two years. The owner of the business will provide orientation for the position, but the employee must have experience with general jewelry store management/supervision, repairs and customizable jewelry sales.

Position Details / Benefits:

  • Start Date: Position available immediately.
  • Hours: This is a salaried position, with a minimum of 40hrs/week of in-studio coverage. (Tuesday-Saturday 10:00am-6:30pm with a half hour lunch). Must be willing to maintain flexibility to work any shift, holidays, special events, and to address emergency situations.
  • Salary: $50-$60k annually.
  • Continuing Education: This team member may be required to take approved continuing education classes in small business management as a part of this package, depending on their management experience.
  • Medical Benefits: The employee will be offered the opportunity to, and will be expected to, choose between approved medical benefits plans.
  • Profit Based Bonuses: Bonuses based on annual profit are distributed once a year for employees who work a minimum of 10 hours/weekly. Full time employees begin with 1%, and may be eligible for more at their manager’s discretion.
  • Matching IRA: With employment within two consecutive calendar years, team members are eligible for matching IRA distributions up to 3% of salary.
  • Discounts on Jewelry: Extensive discount program to be discussed.
  • Paid Vacation/Sick Leave: 1 hour paid leave for every 40 hours worked (40 hours of leave can roll over year to year.)

  • Transportation: The team member hired into this position must have viable and reliable transportation.
  • Allergies: Baraka team members must be dog friendly and not allergic. We are a dog-friendly company and hope to have a studio dog someday.
  • Education: Completed bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in experience.
  • Type of Employment: At-Will

Experience Required:

  • Management experience (3 years minimum)
  • Fine jewelry/precious mineral sales (3 years minimum)
  • Experience identifying and evaluating precious minerals.
  • Fine jewelry evaluation and repair experience
  • Strong in standard computer software. Some systems we use include…Teamup, Airtable, Slack, Later, Google Docs/Microsoft Word, Google Sheets/Excel, Gmail, Lightspeed POS/CRM for retail, USPS/UPS/FedEx Shipping systems.
  • Proficient in e-commerce software (we use Shopify)

Experience Desired:

  • Knowledge of vintage/estate fine jewelry including eras and styles
  • Retail online e-commerce product descriptions and listings
  • Bilingual is desirable, but not required.

Primary Initial Responsibilities:

  • Correctly Implementing all Studio Opening, Operating, Safety and Closing Procedures
  • Receive, Evaluate, Price and Process all Incoming Repairs
  • Retail Sales, Particularly Helping Engagement and Wedding Ring Clients Acquire Personalized Pieces from our House Brand Company
  • Help In-Studio and Online Shoppers Receive Desired Prefabricated Pieces from Approved Wholesalers
  • Face to Face Studio Sales with Clients, Including Processing Client Invoices, Payments, Receipting for Sales, Returns and Refunds
  • Write Descriptions for New Fine Jewelry Products in Preparation for Posting on our E-Commerce Website
  • Ordering, Receiving and Returning Products from Vendors
  • Assist with Planning and Executing Special Sales and Events
  • Maintaining Studio Cleanliness and Decorating

Management Responsibilities (to grow into over time):

  • Ensure brand development and expansion
  • Schedule, train, oversee, support and direct a small staff
  • Oversee team member check-ins (evaluations), and coach staff accordingly
  • Hiring and dismissing employees
  • Conduct bi-monthly team meetings and oversee team member objectives and responsibilities from meeting to meeting
  • Oversee, manage and develop each department including but not limited to custom design, customizable, repair, our online presence, and OTC buying
  • Oversee showroom opening, closing and operational procedures
  • Oversee showroom security systems and procedures, as well as maintenance and studio insurance coverage.
  • Understand and Oversee team member Payroll, Medical Benefits Packages, FSAs, Simple IRA
  • Oversee online sales platforms
  • Oversee development and implementation of discount sales programs
  • Using third-party sources, understands and can drive: Google and social media advertising and marketing, SEO, Radio Advertising
  • Invoicing
  • Bill pay
  • Showroom merchandising and decorating
  • Oversee bi-annual inventory and team retreat
  • Understands QBO reports and can do analysis and projections
  • Maximize financial performance of the showroom
  • Be responsible for the overall operations of the business
  • Be prepared to learn and oversee new responsibilities as they develop
