Job Summary:

Responsible for providing direct patient care, diagnosing and treating common ailments, and stabilizing emergencies prior to transport to hospital in collaboration with a licensed physician and under direction of the physician according to established protocol and policy statements.

Qualifications:

· Current Nurse Practitioner license in good standing (either AR or multi-state to include AR) required

· CPR certification required. Additional certification may be required based on department (ACLS, PALS, etc.)

· High School diploma or GED equivalent required if working in the lab

Responsibilities/Duties:

· Obtains comprehensive baseline health/medical history

· Patient’s perception of problem obtained

· Reviews body systems, performs initial physical exam & screen exam is performed.

· Assesses and observes psychosocial & family history.

· Orders appropriate diagnostic tests and exams

· Appropriately interprets laboratory and diagnostic testing.

· Deviations from normal are identified & diagnosis is made. Consults with physician when appropriate.

· Provides screening & prevention services provided that they are appropriate for age & risk factors.

· Delivers appropriate treatment & follow-up prescribed per protocol. Consults with physician when appropriate.

· Medication choices are managed through current State and clinic policies.

· Provides appropriate patient education about diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up

· Transfers patient care to supervising physician or other provider when patient’s problem is beyond Practitioner’s level of experience or expertise.

· Referrals made to other health professionals and community resources as indicated.

· Follow-up and evaluation of all services provided results in coordinated health management and education.

· Accurate, timely, and complete patient data is documented in patient record.

· Provides accurate and complete documentation necessary for billing

· Written information provided to patient is appropriate, legible, complete and accurate.

· Participates in the development, implementation, and review of the practice’s policies and procedures.

· Meets with supervising physician on a regular basis for performance and charting review.

· Participates in office meetings and problem-solving sessions to improve patient care.
