Banks Power is Hiring a Field Service Representative (6-month contract) Near Azusa, CA

We're currently looking for two Field Service Representatives. In this role, you'll prepare the vehicle for shipment, diagnose, troubleshoot, operate, assist with maintaining the vehicle, provide recommendations for resolution of potential issues, provide input for customer test incident reports and/or final reports, and ensure overall customer satisfaction.

You will work onsite in Azusa, CA for minimum 3 months to gain familiarity with vehicle systems before working offsite at customer test facility in Aberdeen, MD for 3 months. You will report to Engine Program Manager.

Main responsibilities

  • Represent Banks Power in a professional manner
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting and repairs and oversee resolution of technical issues in a timely manner; work with System Engineers in Azusa, CA to resolve problems of larger scope
  • Develop deep understanding of our diesel hybrid electric vehicle including the following: Mechanical systems (pressures, temperatures, flow rates); electrical systems (wiring architecture, low/high voltage, current); communication systems (J1939 CANbus)
  • Read and understand technical documentation, schematics, and drawings covering subsystem and component requirements, provide direction for testing, and interpret testing results
  • Work on vehicles with hand tools, power tools, electrical equipment like current probes and multimeters
  • Work with CANbus and data logging systems to communicate with vehicle, send and receive commands, and update software systems as necessary
  • Implement test plans and actively lead or guide high-voltage powertrain and power generation subsystem-level testing
  • Lead training sessions and work with the test engineers on at the customer facility
  • Prepare and present information to the Program Manager on testing progress on a weekly basis
Main responsibilities

Required

  • 5 years Automotive Tech repair experience, diagnostic troubleshooting experience preferred
  • Experience with electrical trouble-shooting
  • Hands-on mechanical skills including components change-out
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with CAN log, technical documents, etc
  • Comfortable speaking with technical audience
  • Effectively cope with changing demands and priorities. React well under pressure and manage competing demands. Develop alternative solutions; demonstrate persistence and overcome obstacles. Maintain confidentiality; maintain a positive and professional demeanor. Work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to meet deadlines.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • Technical certification from accredited automotive training institution
  • 3 years of relevant Hybrid Electric experience (PHEV, HEV, or EV)
  • Knowledge about embedded systems and automotive network communications (primarily CAN)
  • Experience with high-power/voltage (primarily DC)
