Work Arrangement
***This is a remote position and can be located anywhere in the U.S.A.***
Performs loan underwriting and due diligence necessary for obtaining a credit decision on commercial loans for the purpose of M&A, debt consolidation, and succession planning within the independent wealth management industry.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Collects, reviews, and validates loan documentation essential for originating conventional commercial loans.
- Obtains and reviews individual and business credit reports, OFAC searches, tax transcripts, and other necessary documentation for accuracy, compliance, and acceptability.
- Communicates with lenders, internal credit team members, brokers, and others as applicable, to determine the knowledge and acceptability of the applicant. Coordinates and conducts interviews with borrowers when applicable.
- Builds new loan packages within the Bank’s origination platform ensuring proposed loan structures, along with all borrowers and guarantors, are appropriately captured and within the Bank policy.
- Generates a written Credit Approval Memorandum reflecting a full underwriting of the proposed transaction meeting bank standards for approval within approximately 5 days of receipt. The completed analysis includes but is not limited to a summary of the transaction; business history, demographics, management experience; detailed financial analyses of the borrowing entity, the seller (if applicable), corporate guarantors and/or affiliates, and principles; the loan request’s conformance to credit policy.
- Assembles credit committee packages and works with management for presentation to the loan committee when needed.
- Prepares and forwards letters for additional information to complete underwriting; prepares commitment letters or declination letters in accordance with internal processes.
- Works with the closing department to facilitate the closing of loan requests and handles credit-related issues as needed; preparing timely modifications and obtaining approvals to help complete the loan closing process.
- Completes annual reviews/financial analysis on existing loans in the portfolio as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Experience Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- 7 years of commercial credit underwriting experience.
Preferred Requirements
- Formal bank credit training.
- Strong working knowledge of accounting principles.
- High-level verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team fostered, multi-tasking environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and SPARK (or similar) loan origination software.
Background & EEO Statement
Salary Range: $63,369 - $134,079
