Baldor Specialty Foods is Hiring a Regional Planner Near Lanham, MD

Position Summary:

As an industry leader in wholesale, retail, and residential food distribution, Baldor Specialty Foods continues to grow and evolve at a rapid pace across all departments. The Regional Supply Planner will be responsible for planning and maintaining regional goods needed within the distribution center they cover, coordinating with the central supply planning office in New York, managing purchase orders, liaising with operations (with a focus on receiving and quality), and other related tasks in order to meet sales requirements while maintaining optimized inventory levels and optimal quality of goods.

This position will partner with the New York central supply planning office, operations, inbound logistics, transportation, merchandising, sales, and accounting, amongst other teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute forward looking purchases and maintain supply levels for local programs with a focus on produce-items.
  • Report to produce-focused supply chain managers in the central supply planning office.
  • Assist in network optimization strategy across total company (direct vs market buy vs intercompany transfer, etc.) and assist in stopgaps to intercompany shuttle constraints.
  • Assist in resolution of inventory and quality issues as needed.
  • Continuous internal communication of out of stocks to internal teams (central supply planning office, merchandising, sales).
  • Act as point person for supply chain and operations collaboration regarding any local needs.
  • Liaise with merchandising to support local pledge and local list/website initiatives.
  • Responsible for developing/executing safety stock strategies to enable efficient inventory levels while supporting sale targets with highest fill rate possible.
  • Understand and analyze key forecast change drivers by working directly with crossfunctional teams and tracking larger market trends.
  • Perform root cause analysis, developing and presenting action plans to mitigate any future risk.
  • Resolve supply issues that arise from receiving or quality issues, inbound transportation, internal schedule changes, and vendor supply interruption.
  • Communicate any regional supply chain issues to the central supply planning office to help with global conflict resolution and strategy optimization.
  • Responsible for reducing and tracking projected write-offs and supporting accounting for reconciliation for invoice discrepancies.
  • Responsible for supporting supplier system connectivity through collaborative tools/methods (EDI, web, ASN, vendor portal, etc.).
  • Arrive promptly for a 6am local start time
  • Responsible for specific weekend coverage work (to be done remotely)

Desired Experience:

  • BA / BS Degree preferred but not required.
  • APICS CPIM or CSCP certification preferred but not required.
  • Understanding of food safety or operations preferred but not required.
  • Interest in the produce space, previous produce experience preferred but not required.
  • Minimum combined of 2 years’ experience in any of these areas: Supply Planning, Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, Buying, Demand Planning, Logistics, Manufacturing, and/or Materials Management.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in ERP/MRP system (Dynamics365 is a plus).
  • Basic Excel skills required (V-lookups, pivot tables, and formula entry a must).
  • Experience with PowerBI and/or Tableau is preferred, but not required.
  • Past participation in S&OP (or SIOP) process, capacity planning, measuring KPIs preferred but not required.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem solving, and time/process management skills preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, a must.
  • Flexible outlook and active learner.
  • Travel up to 10%
  • In-person – potential for work from home flexibility
