    TEACHER, RESTORATIVE CLASSROOM SPECIALIST

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. California multiple subjects teaching credential;
    2. Successful classroom teaching experience; 5 years or more of classroom instruction preferred.
    3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with adolescent at-risk youth
    4. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, and parents, and to respect
    confidential matters
    REPORTS TO: Principal or designee
    JOB GOAL: LCAP Goal 2, Action 34: To implement the school site Restorative Classroom
    Program to effectively meet both the academic and behavioral needs of the students designated to this
    program at the District’s Middle and Junior High Schools.
    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Teaches students assigned to Restorative Classroom program in their currently assigned course of instruction.
    2. Communicates with student’s regular schedule of teachers regarding assignments and instruction.
    3. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to effective learning and behavior objectives.
    4. Assists site administration in the implementation of the tiered Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports
    (PBIS) framework within the school.
    5. Facilitates restorative practices paradigm with students and staff including the use of affective statements,
    affective questions, circle structures, formal conferencing and reintegration of identified students following behavioral incidents.
    6. Facilitates the acquisition of social/emotional skills for identified students.
    7. Facilitates student goal setting and self-efficacy to develop motivation for learning and success.
    8. Participates in the school Professional Learning Communities as assigned by site administration.
    9. Develops and maintains a system of student record keeping related to the program.
    10. Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss the student’s academic and behavioral progress
    11. Confers with students, parents, teachers and other staff as needed.
    12. Participates in District, county and state meetings and trainings as needed or directed by site administration
    13. Contributes news items of the program to bulletins and other communications from the school.
    14. Performs other duties as assigned
    SALARY: Current salary schedule plus, $5,700 stipend
    EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the District’s
    “Improvement of Professional Services” handbook, Board Policies and Procedures and consistent with
    collective bargaining agreements when applicable.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
    Some positions may require proof of privately owned automobile insurance and the possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle operator’s license. Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met. Must present verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training or obtain verification within six (6) weeks of hire and annually thereafter, as required by the California Child Abuse Neglect Reporting Act.
