Description:

Scope/Purpose of the Position

The EHS Coordinator is responsible for implementing and maintaining the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) program for Bakerly San Antonio facility. This position is also responsible for identifying and implementing EHS strategies, industrial hygiene, site security, safety and chemical regulatory requirements, training on general safety, injury reductions and emissions/waste/water management, including all applicable regulatory and permitting and reporting requirements for regulatory agencies. This position reports to the plant manager and works in close relation with the Corporate EHS Manager based in PA.

Major Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Ensures that required equipment inspections are completed timely and within the specifications outlined in policy. Examples include but are not limited to: Eye wash stations, safety showers, fire extinguishers, spill kits, and other safety related equipment.
  • Purchases necessary equipment and supplies to maintain a safe, secure, and compliant environment.
  • Ensures that staff is kept fully informed of safety regulations and policies and works to ensure compliance with said regulations and policies.
  • Updates and maintains Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and ensures proper labeling and storage of all chemicals on site.
  • Authors and implements the Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and ensures staff is adequately trained.
  • Provides support and collaborates with the Safety Committee and promotes involvement with inspections and injury reduction efforts.
  • Conducts regular Environmental, Health and Safety training for employees.
  • Conducts and coordinates accidents/incident investigations in conjunction with the appropriate department managers and employees.
  • Manages and maintains OSHA 300 logs including annual submission.
  • Performs risk assessments for new processes, changes in current processes or updates to processes to ensure the appropriate measures are taken to ensure employee safety.
  • Ensures the appropriate PPE is selected and available and appropriately used by the employees within a process or during job performance.
  • Conducts hazard analysis and job safety analysis of processes within the facility.
  • Maintains and updates all Safety, Health, and Environmental documentation for the facility.
  • Update daily communication tools on production floor.
  • Coordinate safety related work orders with Maintenance dept
  • Assist w creation of EHS related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Comply with all Bakerly's GMP and SQF policies and procedures.
  • Comply with all Bakerly's safety policies and procedures.
  • Other duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate by management.

Requirements:

Job Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field with 1 years of experience and/or the equivalent years' experience in Safety and/or Safety, Health, and Environmental field or other closely related field
  • Some knowledge of federal, state, and local Safety, Health, and Environmental requirements
  • OSHA training and certification a plus
  • Ability to keep current on regulatory requirements.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point)
  • Ability to adapt to changing organization and operational needs and lead others through change.
  • Possess leadership skills and ability to supervise a staff.
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to stop, stand, kneel, bend, and walk for 8hrs straight.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Self-motivated and ability to ensure work is completed in a timely manner.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Punctual and dependable.

Back-Up for Position
The Plant Manager or Corporate EHS Manager will be the back-up for the EHS Coordinator.
