Responsibilities:

• Receive and carry out Lead Grower instructions including crop map info.
• Implement Greenhouse opening checklist.
• Work with production crews to ensure proper crop placement and laydown.
• Communicate with Lead Grower any plant problems and follow up until problem is resolved.
• Train, organize and prioritize workday for yourself and assistants; consider crop needs, weather, chemical schedule, and production activities.
• Understand and utilize efficiently all equipment (irrigators, vents, q-com) operation and maintenance.
• Be safety conscious; report to Lead Grower any unsafe, broken or poorly operating conditions in the greenhouse and surrounding areas.
• Growers are encouraged to formulate trials and work with supervisor about the specific care needs of the trials in your houses.
• Closely monitor/control temperatures, moisture, fertility, pH, humidity of your crops.
• Fill out daily greenhouse care record accurately and timely.
• Record and submit any proposed changes to crop maps.
• Communicate with greenhouse closers/helpers on any changes in greenhouse temperatures.
• Monitor and adjust misting of each variety of propagation material based on weather, variety, and age of crop.
• Update cycle sheet daily, ensure that this accurately reflects what is programmed in the irrigator.
• Perform other jobs as required throughout the year. May assist in production during off season, planting, grading, shipping, and greenhouse maintenance.

Qualifications/Skills:

• Horticulture experience required.
• Horticulture or related field degree preferred.
• Willing to learn and contribute to a positive teamwork-based environment.
• Basic understanding of plant care including seed germination, vegetative propagation and container growing.
• Willing to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as assigned.
• Adequate knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Bilingual in Spanish/English is a plus.
• Willing to work in extreme weather conditions, hot/cold.
• Must have valid driver's license and meet company criteria for insurability.
• Must take and pass employer paid pre-employment drug test.
