About this role: Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Data Engineer for the CTO Observability & Logging products which are playing a major role in accelerating the firm’s modernization and move to cloud. In this role the candidate will play a critical delivery role focused on Cloud Observability driving one of Logging’s area product: Data Engineering & Analytics. This role is looking for a candidate that can drive the technical execution and delivery of the strategic enterprise logging product and its integration with the rest of the Observability ecosystem for Cloud based apps products. As part of this role, the candidate will help lead the migration of 15,000 logging customers (including log data and user developed content) to our strategic Enterprise cloud logging solution. Candidate will be part of the Data Engineering team focused on enablement, adoption, analytics, standards & best practices. This role requires a mix of Software & Data engineering skills, and work closely with Product to support our Agile methodology. In this role, you will: Lead complex technology initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large scale technology solutions for technology engineering disciplines Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs Review and analyze complex, large-scale technology solutions for tactical and strategic business objectives, enterprise technological environment, and technical challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including intangibles or unprecedented technical factors Make decisions in developing standard and companywide best practices for engineering and technology solutions requiring understanding of industry best practices and new technologies, influencing and leading technology team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor Required Qualifications, US: 5 years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education Desired Qualifications: 4 years of Technology Infrastructure Engineering and Solutions experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education. 3 years with Infrastructure as Code: E.g., Ansible, Terraform, etc. Experience with cloud and logging technologies - preferably Azure and Google Cloud. Strong leadership skills with the ability to move into a leadership role in 1-2 years 3 years of Splunk experience preferred, in-depth knowledge of SPL, content (knowledge object) creation and management. Strong customer service and communication skills Proven record of delivery across organizational lines – ability to influence outcomes at senior levels Experience with strategic planning and execution within a technology function Job Expectations: Willingness to work onsite at stated location on the job opening, hybrid or as needed.
