Conduct construction estimating for projects, including analyzing project plans and specifications, performing takeoffs, and calculating material and labor costs
Collaborate with project managers and construction teams to develop accurate and competitive bids
Prepare detailed cost estimates and proposals for potential clients
Review and analyze subcontractor bids and negotiate pricing
Maintain accurate records of estimates, bids, and project documentation
Utilize construction management software such as Bluebeam to assist in estimating processes
Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
Maintains contact and relationships with private individuals and other organizations. Identifies labor, material, and time requirements. Computes costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.
Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
Presents prepared estimates by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.
Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Determine the total cost of materials, equipment, utilities, and labor for projects.
Research construction documents and analyze specifications.
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction estimating or a related field
- Strong knowledge of construction management principles and practices
- Proficiency in project management techniques, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and blueprints
- Excellent mathematical skills for accurate calculations of material quantities and costs
- Strong negotiation skills to secure competitive pricing from subcontractors and suppliers
- Familiarity with contract documents and the ability to identify potential risks or issues
- Proficiency in using construction estimating software such as Bluebeam
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously
