POSITION SUMMARY:

As the Production Manager, reporting directly to the plant manager, you are responsible to provide leadership and coordinate the activities of production to ensure that the department is running efficiently and effectively, to include oversight for safety, quality, production, maintenance and process. You are responsible for maintaining all key performance and budgetary metrics. The successful candidate will be expected to deploy the tools of lean/quality systems to drive continuous improvement throughout the operation and will support the new product development process.

  • Responsible for properly managing and performing all powder-coating related activities in alignment with company and customer quality standards.
  • Responsible for supervising associates in the powder coating department including team leaders, painters, and production associates.
  • Maintain a clear understanding of plant capacity vs. actual plant production output by reviewing various data through the production area within the powder coating unit.
  • Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meet specifications.
  • Review production orders and/or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.
  • Applies progressive quality and lean systems tools including 5S, CTQ, Process Audits, Policy Deployment and other proactive quality management practices.
  • Support and achieve revenue goals, operational efficiencies and SG&A budgets.
  • Utilize troubleshooting and problem-solving techniques to resolve operational, manufacturing and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Oversee the set-ups and start-ups of production equipment on a daily basis.
  • Maximize the Value Streams to include efficient and timely procurement and utilization of all inputs with a particular focus on material and labor.
  • Practices strong engagement with direct reports and team members including accepting diversity of ideas and thoughts, sharing responsibility for success, demonstrating honesty and integrity, helping employees solve problems and showing respect.
  • Develop and utilize KPI's/visual management on the shop floor.
  • Oversee and drive continuous improvement in the operation including safety, quality, cost, delivery and team member morale.
  • Facilitate the performance evaluation process for the production department.
  • Ensure plant safety procedures are followed in order to promote personal safety and the safety of others.
  • Communicate daily issues and pertinent information to all departments as needed.
  • Schedule equipment maintenance and preventative maintenance as needed.
  • Complete all necessary production paperwork and communicate information to various departments as needed.

Required Experience

  • Five or more years of Powder Coating experience in a leadership role, including experience leading and improving powder coat/ paint processes, procedures, equipment, and employees.
  • Must be familiar will all paint applications, prepping procedures, safety protocol, and quality
  • Knowledgeable of powder coating systems to include equipment, application of powder, hanging methods, chemical cleaning, drying ovens, and proper baking of powder
  • Prior powder coating equipment maintenance experience to include cleaning nozzles, checking/replacing worn or broken components, and as needed assist in troubleshooting malfunctions
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Excel, Word
  • Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) Preferred or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Success Measures:

  • Sixty (60) – Ninety (90) days:
    • Knowledge of Struxure products in powder coating
    • Understand the objectives and KPIs of the powder coating operation
    • Identify and prioritize opportunities for improvement in cost, productivity, delivery, quality, and safety.
  • Six (6) Months:
    • Drive improvement measures in cost, productivity, delivery, quality, and safety
    • Develop standard work, protocols, and procedures to improve powder coating
    • Drive employee engagement to achieve powder coating daily and weekly goals
  • One (1) year:
    • Meet powder coating and individual objectives for the year to include cost, productivity, delivery, quality, and safety.
    • Create department objective for next year’s goals.
    • Create a pipeline of projects for the next year to improve the powder coating department

Compensation for roles at AZEK varies depending on a wide range of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set and level of experience. The annual salary for this role is $73,000 to $105,000. In addition to base salary, we offer generous bonus and incentive opportunities that significantly increase earning potential.
