Aya Healthcare is seeking an experienced quality leader who can level-up a strong test organization. The ideal candidate has expertise in defining processes and solutions for releasing high-quality software in a fast-paced environment, and takes initiative to identify and solve problems. They should also have experience with automation tools and frameworks and a good understanding of software development and release cycles, with demonstrated ownership of quality engineering.

The Associate Director, Engineering Automation will be responsible for fostering a culture of quality within the company. They will lead a team of Automation Engineers to ensure that platforms and systems meet high standards of stability, security, and quality. Reporting directly to the Senior Director Software Engineering, this role will have the authority to establish and implement software quality engineering practices, procedures, and automation to ensure that our software meets the required standards for release.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct oversight, leadership, and motivation for enterprise Quality Engineering team.
  • Develops and mentors staff to build a culture of excellence in the QE team, as well as managing QE performance delivered by outsourced and/or off-shore partners.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to define the software quality standards and metrics that will be used to evaluate the software development processes.
  • Collaborate with the application development leadership team to define the internal quality maturity capabilities & standards that will be used to assess the continual improvement of the software development processes.
  • Create a culture of continual improvement in the software development processes throughout the company.
  • Partner with product, DevOps, and engineering teams to drive quality upstream.
  • Drive adoption of automation throughout the product development team.
  • Develop comprehensive quality dashboards that speak to quality at every stage of the development cycle through post-release.
  • Uplevel our talent and work with the team to adapt automation, testing, and reliability practices as needed.
  • Manage the team and its members through the full employee lifecycle.
  • Ensure delivery against QA department goals and objectives.
  • Continually improve internal quality and automation practices and metrics.
  • Drive cross functional quality initiatives within the product development team, and across Aya’s engineering teams.
  • Regularly communicate with colleagues and executives about initiatives in the software testing space.

Required Qualifications:

  • 7 years of experience in automation, quality, and software engineering
  • 7 years of experience in software QA leadership and management roles
  • 5 years of experience managing large and cross-function teams
  • 3 years of experience managing other leaders
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to summarize and communicate complex technical and project issues
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as JIRA, GitHub, and Confluence
  • B.S or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field

Compensation: Aya reasonably anticipates the pay scale for this position to be an annual salary of $200,000 to $235,000.

The pay scale for this position may vary if applicant possesses experience outside of what Aya reasonably anticipates for this position. Bonuses are subject to the role and your manager’s discretion.
