- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a transferable technical field.
- 3 years of related experience in the steel industry.
- Familiarity with steel fabrication processes, techniques, and advanced knowledge of construction elements (welding and constructability).
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex design documents and specifications.
- Experience with Excel and preliminary connection design.
Responsibilities
- Producing cost estimates and proposals for structural steel bid projects and cost estimates for change orders on awarded projects.
- Developing, implementing, participating in, and monitoring a plan for completing a material and labor take-off from structural and architectural design drawings.
- Taking responsibility for complex projects and routinely functioning as the estimate team leader.
- Reviewing and verifying completeness and distributing project drawings and specifications to estimators assigned to the project.
- Maintaining and managing well-developed subcontractor/supplier relationships.
- Obtaining pricing for specialty items not contained in the estimating software database.
- Generating estimate summaries and cost recap sheets in Excel.
- Developing preliminary connection design based on member capacities and loads provided.
- Working with the Production Department to review and update estimating standards.
- Working overtime when required to meet bid dates.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a transferable technical field.
- 3 years of related experience in the steel industry.
- Familiarity with steel fabrication processes, techniques, and advanced knowledge of construction elements (welding and constructability).
- Ability to manage time well and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Works well with a team.
- Experience with Excel and preliminary connection design.
