Axient is Hiring a Sr Space Program Analyst Near Pentagon, VA

Overview

Axient is seeking a Sr Space Program Analyst to support the Department of the Air Force, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Space Acquisition and Integration (SAF/SQ). This office leads the acquisition of Space systems to support the Space Force across all the Space Force missions and functional areas. This position is located in the Pentagon, Washington, D.C. and directly support the Secretary of the Air Force and Chief of Space Operations in major upgrades of today’s systems as well as identifying the requirements for, capabilities and acquisition, and fielding of the next generation of Space systems. The individual selected for these position must, as a minimum, possess a TS/SCI clearance and the work requires travel (see below for minimum requirements and additional information).

Responsibilities

  • Support SAF/SQ as Department of the Air Force (DAF) lead for articulating the requirements, assessing technology and alternatives, planning for and executing the major upgrades to today’s Space systems and the fielding of future Space Systems
  • In this capacity Space Analysts support SAF/SQ in working across the full portfolio of U.S. Space Systems, working across the Space Force, to include Space planners, operators, logisticians to access mission gaps and work with the Space Force to identify system solutions. Analyst will be working with the Combatant Commands and with the Joint Staff, and across the U.S. Government, to include NASA and the Intelligence Community.
  • Space Analyst will also be working with our friends and Allies, as well as with U.S. commercial Space entities to determine new and innovative options to address gaps and increase the capabilities of Space systems across the U.S. Space Force, the Department of Defense, across the U.S. Government and with our friends and allies.
  • Provide decision-quality policy analysis and advice for Space Force and DAF leaders on Space acquisition processes, milestones, and systems.
  • Support the Space Force in the planning and tracking of acquisition milestones, to access the progress and delivery of upgraded and new future Space Systems.
  • Provide input to the development of Space System and the acquisition of advanced systems.
  • Create innovative tracking of Space System acquisition milestones to ensure on-time delivery of advanced systems
  • Support SAF/SQ in the development of advanced Space Systems acquisition products, including, policies, strategies, priorities and funding profiles. Products include visual presentations, briefings, white papers, capabilities and threat documents, needed to support the Space systems acquisition processes.
  • Participate in Space Force, and DAF briefings, presentations, and conferences, and as needed, be prepared to support with associated trip reports, minutes, and documentation of Space Force acquisition engagements.
  • Facilitate and monitor participation in space wargames and exercises as directed (e.g., Schriever Wargames, etc.), to inform U.S. and Combined capability development and architecture integration
  • Facilitate analysis and integration of U.S. Space capabilities across all domains (e.g., air, lands, sea, space, cyber, energy) for U.S. and Combined space architectures.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree and 15 years of applicable experience in Space Acquisition, Engineering, Scientific, math, or Analytic field related to Defense and/or Intelligence Space Acquisition Community
  • TS/SCI Clearance
  • Deep familiarity with U.S., civil, commercial and allied Space capabilities and related acquisition processes and future systems
  • Experience supporting DAF and Space Force Headquarters, OSD, DoD Agency, or IC staffs
  • Demonstrated understanding of U.S. Space Force, Joint Staff, Combatant Command, Civil, Commercial, and international systems and partnerships.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to plan, work, coordinate, and deliver independently
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational, oral presentation, and executive writing skills
  • Familiarity with Defense Space and National Security Space in the areas of strategy, requirements, capabilities, architectures, programs, acquisition, and operations
  • Familiarity with DAF's Task Management Tool (TMT) or similar HQ staffing tools
  • Position requires walking, traveling, and working in multiple locations including the Pentagon, Crystal City, dispersed locations around the NCR, and Includes traveling to various locations across the U.S.
  • Requires moving on the bus and subway, carrying briefings and material to support large groups. Moving between multiple desks. The ability to attend field locations in unimproved areas, climbing stairs, traversing across unimproved fields, outdoors in all types of weather. May require oversees travel.
