Overview

On behalf of the Directed Energy (DE) CTF (704th Test Group Operating Location AA), Axient is seeking an experienced Instrumentation and Network Engineer to support DE testing associated with High Power Microwaves (HPM) and High Energy Lasers (HEL). This position will support work primarily at Kirtland AFB, New Mexico but also support remote tests at other locations, including White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) and the High Energy Laser System Test Facility (HELSTF).

Responsibilities

Duties include:

• Equipment set up and operation of test data acquisition systems including computers, displays, network switches, routers, cameras, and other related items associated with laser systems.
• Establishing local area networks.
• Configuring computers for network use.
• Establishing and maintaining Windows security hierarchy (personnel accounts).
• Installing and operating software applications on Linux, RedHat, and Ubuntu operating systems.
• Completing checkouts and addressing troubleshooting needs encountered prior to and during testing.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• Must be a US citizen and possess or be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
• Must possess a bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field from an accredited university. Experience for education may be substituted with customer approval.
• Experience supporting test programs (minimum 2 years).
• Extensive knowledge of network setup and operation.
• Willingness to travel to support testing 25-35% of the time. Travel anticipated to generally occur once per month for one week or more, as well as 2-3 trips per year to remote sites for 2-3 weeks duration.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while being able to prioritize work to balance multiple projects and deadlines.

Desired Skills

• Familiarity with Air Force information systems (NIPR, SIPR).
• Working knowledge of Direct Energy systems/familiarity with HPL and HPM technologies.
• Experience supporting developmental test programs, in particular, those associated with military use.
