AXCELIS TECHNOLOGIES is Hiring a Lead Quality Engineer Near Beverly, MA
The Lead Quality Engineer is responsible for delivering results as a vital member of the Quality and cross-functional teams representing the customers’ best interests, assuring hardware & software and process quality and effectiveness throughout the product life cycle from design through post-delivery support. Skilled at developing and implementing quality plans, programs, and procedures using quality assurance methods, lean manufacturing concepts, and data analyses. Ensures product quality conforms to established company, customer, and regulatory requirements, and reviews, analyzes and drives the resolution with actions to improve the quality discrepancies related to new designs and engineering processes. Responsibilities may include planning and implementing product quality plans for new hardware and software, including: • Ability to engage early in the planning stages to characterize sourcing, manufacturability, or programmatic risk to ensure product quality performance. • Extensive background in applicable quality and lean tools/techniques to include: APQP, FMEA, Control Plan, RCA, PPAP, Gage R&R, VSM, SPC, Poke Yoke, Kaizen,8D, and QMS methods. • Reviews practices, procedures, and processes seeking avenues to improve efficiencies and effectiveness and reduce risk to product quality. • Provides technical review of major deliverables prior to delivery to the customer. Includes reviewing deviations, acceptance test results, and anomaly conditions. Writes technical reports. • Audits for deficiency identification, correction, and continuous improvement. • Analyzes, interprets, trends data, and executes improvement on key performance metrics. Manages quality data for accuracy and report generation. • Identifies and ensures documentation of potential risk with mitigation plans Position Requirements • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline from an accredited university or college. • Minimum of 10 years of experience in quality. Experience in mid to large size matrix organization, preferably in high technology, for automotive or semiconductor companies. • Hands-on engineer that has experience in hardware and software development, design reviews, manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, product integration, • Has created, reviewed, and implemented policies and procedures, work instructions, and test procedures, including Design Input, Design Output, Design Verification and Product Validation (V&V), and Change Management • Possesses audit skills for product and process audits internally, at suppliers, and at customer integration sites. • Fundamental understanding of problem-solving methods and statistical tools to define and analyze problems, evaluate and complete improvement projects. • Ability to work on and or lead projects with cross-functional teams • Open-minded, collaborative, self-starter, takes ownership Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement concepts and practices, experience using statistical process control tools • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems ISO9001, IATF 16949 preferred • Experience working in a team environment, leading, and facilitating teams is preferred • Knowledge and familiarity with inspection tools and methods and metrology, control plans • Strong oral and written communication skills • Proficient in MS Office: PowerPoint, Excel, MS Project & Minitab Certificate/Licenses/Special Requirement Certified by the American Society for Quality as Quality Engineer and in specialized areas such as Six Sigma, Lean management is desired. Some travel may be required. Percent of travel required up to 10%. Must have a valid passport.
