AW Health Care is seeking experienced and compassionateCNAs and Caregivers to join our team of professionals that provide exceptional care to our clients living in the North, Central, West and South St Louis City/County communities. Priority will be given to those who have experience with a gait belts, Hoyer Lifts, bathing and dressing, peri-care, meal preparation, safety oversight and companionship. **To be considered eligible, candidates must have a valid driver's license, your own personal, reliable vehicle and auto insurance. AW Health Care has Client Mileage reimbursement. 

General Availability Needed: Monday-Friday and every other weekend, (Various shifts)

(You will need 2-3 days a week availability and every other weekend to qualify.)

CNA/Caregiver Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the client with personal hygiene such is bathing, care of skin, mouth and hair. Instruct client and family in meeting client’s personal hygiene needs
  2. Provide physical assistance in client transfer, positioning and ambulation as outlined in the client care plan.
  3. Assist client with prescribed non-skilled exercises which the client, family, and in-home care aide have been taught by appropriate professional personnel.
  4. Change client bed linen and assist with light laundry and housekeeping as needed.
  5. Clear client’s path of clutter or client’s room to provide for maximum client safety.
  6. Prepare a light meal if visit during mealtime.
  7. Assist in cleaning and maintaining supplies and equipment in proper condition.
  8. Assist the recipient with ordinarily self-administered medications (open bottles, get water).
  9. Apply non-prescription topical ointments/lotions to unbroken skin at the recipient’s direction.
  10. Assist with any Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s) not previously listed and within the scope of service and licensure.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have valid driver's license, your own personal, reliable vehicle with full coverage auto insurance and be able to independently access client’s residence and perform client transportation and errands if requested.
  • Must have working and charged cell phone that is used for clocking in and out and communication with AW that consists of accessing texts, voicemails, emails and phone calls.
  • Must have at least six months to one year paid work experience working with the geriatric population or similar care and responsibilities. Working with clients with Dementia and Alzheimer's is preferred.
  • Ability to work with pets and smokers in client homes, preferred.
  • Ability to use gait belt and Hoyer Lift preferred or willingness to learn.
  • Must maintain required yearly training/education as mandated by agency
  • Must be able to read, write and follow directions and have moderate computer skills.
  • Must have the availability to work 30 hours a month to stay in active status.
  • To excel in this role, it is essential to showcase a profound understanding of growth and development principles across the entire lifespan. Additionally, you should have the capacity to analyze client data, document and accurately interpret pertinent information, and discern their unique age-related needs. This knowledge will empower you to deliver the care required, aligning with the agency's established policies and procedures.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to participate in physical activity.
  • Ability to work for extended period of time while standing and being involved in physical activity.
  • Moderate lifting.
  • Ability to do extensive bending, lifting and standing on a regular basis.
