The Opportunity 

Avidity Biosciences is looking for an experienced FP&A leader who is proactive and a self-starter with advanced technical and communication skills. 

Reporting to the Vice President of FP&A, the role will provide strategic thinking and leadership to the Technical Development & Operations, and Research departments. The role will be responsible for budget, forecast, close, and long-range plan processes along with oversight of capital expenditures, resourceallocation, options to maintain fiscal responsibility, cash burn and investment management strategy. 

What You Will Contribute 

  • Lead the management of key financial processes such as forecasting, budgeting, and KPI reporting.
  • Evaluate spend drivers and provide insights into Risk & Opportunities.
  • Provide clarity into spend treatment (OpEx vs COGS, CapEx vs OpEx, etc.).
  • Evaluate the financial implications of strategic choices and develop business cases for key investments.
  • Work alongside and influence the businessSMEs by initiating cost/benefit thinking into the decision-making process.
  • Build trusting relationships with business partners and collaborate with the leadership team toanalyze risks and opportunities for the company.
  • Support the company’s quarterly close processes, SEC filings, and public disclosures.
  • Author and deliver financial narratives and supporting analytics to support senior decision making on a regular and ad hoc basis.
  • Participate in contract discussions with suppliers and drive rate negotiations.
  • Design and implement FP&A processes, adding structure to a growing FP&A function and inviting cross-organizational input.
  • Collaborate with business leadership across the organization to develop KPIs and methodologies for tracking the individual performance of each business function.
  • Deliver regular and timely financial analysis, insights and relevant commentary to the finance leadership team, executive leadership team and board.
  • Lead the selection and implementation of forecasting and business intelligence systems and tools.
  • Monitor expenses against budget and identify opportunities for investment optimization.
  • Identify and lead projects to streamline financial close, forecast, and business case evaluation processes.
  • Provide support in fund raising activities including facilitating investor due diligence and making recommendations for the terms that optimize both the investor and the company's position.

What We Seek 

  • 10 years of experience in finance with focus on supporting Operations department.
  • Expertise in forecasting Inventory and COGS, including Standard CPU, variances such as material and volume variances, freight, and royalties.
  • The successful candidate will have a proven track record and be able to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Management track record of hiring and developing talented staff.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to support a growing business.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally, with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on individual assignments, with the ability to prioritize activities efficiently.
  • The ability to function in a rapidly growing environment and demonstrate creativity, selectability, and innovative strategies pertaining to all financial matters is essential.
  • The ability to provide the senior executives with the necessaryfinancial and modeling information to make effective decisions.
  • A track record of outstanding financial management skills including accounting, financial reporting, and controls.

What We will Provide to You:

  • The base salary range for this role is $196,800-$217,500. The final compensation will be commensurate with such factors as relevant experience, skillset, internal equity and market factors.
  • Avidity offers competitive compensation and benefits which includes the opportunity for annual and spot bonuses, stock options and RSUs, as well as a 401(k) with an employer match.
