Position Overview:

The Audiovisual (AV) Programmer - IV, plays a pivotal role in overseeing the programming department's direction and provides expertise in control systems programming for audiovisual systems. This role demands advanced technical knowledge in networking, audio/video equipment, software, and programming. Key qualities required include attention to detail, punctuality, strong communication skills, and the ability to commission audiovisual installations. The Audiovisual (AV) Programmer - IV contributes to maintaining regional standards, works independently on programming tasks, guides junior programmers, and assists with remote and on-site AV/IT system configuration, testing, and commissioning. This role involves both remote and on-site assistance with configuration, testing, and commissioning of AV/IT systems. Attention to detail, punctuality, effective communication skills, and the ability to commission audiovisual installations are essential for success in this position.

Requirements: 

• Associate degree or equivalent experience;
  • Bachelor’s degree in programming preferred.
• CompTIA Network certification required within two years of starting.
• AVIXA CTS certification mandatory.
• Two or more certifications from the following list:
  • Crestron Master Programmer
  • Extron Certified Control Professional
  • Extron Authorized Programmer
  • QSC Q-SYS Level 2
  • AMX ACE
• Minimum 8 years' experience in technical AV/IT or programming roles.
• Proficiency in Windows, Apple software, and programming languages like Python, HTML, C#Pro.
• Advanced knowledge of digital communication protocols (IP, RS232, RS485, USB) from AV Manufacturers including but not limited to AMX, Creston, Extron, and others.
• Proficiency in loading, testing, and editing control code and graphical interfaces.
• Advanced skills in configuring wired and wireless TCP/IP networks.

Responsibilities:

• Provide advanced programming and graphic interface layouts for AV/IT systems. 
  • using primarily Crestron, AMX, and Extron, C , C#, VB, PHP, Java, HTML 5, and other programming languages as needed to meet project scope, budget, and schedule.
• Serve as the main point of contact during project design to validate system designs for programming feasibility for regional sales and engineers.
• Assist in job site support by implementing, testing, and debugging control and graphical user interface code individually or as part of a commissioning team.
• Configure and test wired and wireless networks supporting AV/IT systems and ensure their functionality.
• Provide support and expertise to project teams through advanced programming, equipment configuration, troubleshooting, and documentation.
• Collaborate with the project team to prepare control system submittals and assist in tasks required for job completion during the commissioning phase.
• Identify and communicate change order opportunities to the Project Manager promptly.
• Manage and maintain job-related configuration files, code, graphic touch panel layouts, and programs including creating and managing the code repository in coordination with the company-wide programming team.
• Define and oversee regional coding methodology, testing requirements, development cycle, code review, testing, release, and archiving procedures.
• Conduct periodic code reviews to maintain accountability among associate level programmers and lead efforts to enhance coding efficiency, accuracy, and reusability.
• Actively participate in continuing education and encourage team members to do the same.
• Designate tasks and schedules for regional programmers and provide training and mentorship to new hires and trainees on the programming staff.
• Provide technical guidance to AV Field Engineers and the local programming team to ensure adherence to good programming practices and company-wide standards.
