Avid Core is Hiring a Communications Specialist Near Washington, DC

Avid Core is seeking a Communications Specialist with strong communication experience to support a federal government client in Washington, D.C. We’re looking for a passionate, detail-oriented person interested in supporting an international global security program.

The position offers hybrid work flexibility, working from a home location and client location with the expectation of attending meetings at the client site in D.C., as required.

Salary Range: $85,000-$130,000 based on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary Communications Specialist to the Chief of Staff within an international affairs program office
  • Develop and execute outreach strategies with the goal of increasing intra-agency collaboration within the federal agency and department
  • Develop and execute a marketing campaign to expand the awareness for the program and the impact to the mission
  • Develop and design educational materials to inform external agencies (i.e., State Department) to be used for engagements with Congress and the Office of Management and Budget
  • Develop recruiting materials to promote and attract new applicants for positions within the Agency
  • Convene reoccurring coordination calls with internal stakeholders
  • Oversee the production of newsletters, briefings, updates, story mapping, and other tools
  • Work closely with senior leadership to develop and execute external stakeholder engagement and outreach strategies with the goal of building partnerships and coalitions with key international stakeholders
  • Host reoccurring webinars with external stakeholders and working with the Chief of Staff to schedule and prepare for in-person meetings with key international stakeholders
  • Oversee the development of responses (brochures, briefs, fact sheets, papers, website content updates, etc.) to internal and external requests from Congress, the media, and other stakeholders
  • Work with subject matter experts, program management, and other team members to develop accurate and concise reports for senior leadership
  • Provide technical review on briefings, reports, etc., prior to dissemination to senior leadership
  • Facilitate internal meetings and oversees the development of meeting summaries and after-action reports
  • Oversee event planning logistics for conferences and other stakeholder meetings
  • Track internal and external stakeholder engagement activities
  • Develop eye-catching, informative designs and presentations
  • Track action items, requests, and project goals
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications/Skills:

  • 5 years of communications experience supporting a Federal Agency
  • Experience with graphic design and strategic communications
  • Proficiency with Canva and Adobe Creative suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint)
  • Experience with WebEx, Zoom, and other virtual meeting platforms
  • Ability to obtain public trust security clearance

  • Able to manage and follow-up on deadlines, as well as to identify and recommend solutions and next steps

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in communication, marketing, international studies, or similar field.

Location:

This is a hybrid position. The candidate must be able to commute to the DC client location on a routine basis and be available for ad-hoc meetings. Candidates will be provided a computer, however must have steady internet connection, and a phone.
