Mele Accociates is Hiring a Communications Specialist Near Washington, DC

MELE Associates, Inc. is seeking to add an experienced Communications Professional to our National Security and Intelligence team, supporting a key customer within the Department of Energy (DOE) / National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). The Communications Specialist will provide high-level communications and outreach expertise and support to programs within DOE/NNSA. This position is full-time.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Functions may include but are not limited to:
  • Provide expert support and advice for branding and messaging efforts.
  • Support the development of messaging guidance and help implement strategies for consistent messaging across programs.
  • Plan and execute the development of outreach and communications products including brochures, factbooks, annual reports, and videos.
  • Coordinate the implementation and messaging for employee engagement and knowledge management activities including onboarding, mentoring and coaching programs, and knowledge transfer efforts.
  • Support the development of material to better communicate strategic direction, facilitating meetings and developing actions and new approaches as necessary.
  • Develop communications approaches and materials to support strategic planning, program planning, and other organization-wide meetings.
  • Draft and maintain program guidance, policies, procedures and other management documents; and develop strategies to communicate the strategies to stakeholders.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in a relevant subject matter.
  • DOE Q clearance - current and active (preferred) or the ability to obtain one.
  • Minimum of five years experience in the field, with ten years strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with other DOE offices as well as other agencies.
  • Good customer relation skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.

  • Applicants should have a demonstrated track record of experience and knowledge in nonproliferation and export controls, have the ability to work with various groups, and have the confidence to develop innovative solutions to address current or future challenges.
  • Experience with DOE/NNSA.
  • Be resident in or willing to relocate to the National Capital Area.
LOCATION
  • Telework options are available with a requirement to be in the office for customer meetings as needed.

Salaries are determined based on several factors including external market data, internal equity, and the candidate's related knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
