Aviceda Therapeutics is Hiring a Senior/Principal Scientist, Glycochemistry/Carbohydrate Chemistry Near Cambridge, MA

Job Description:

This newly created role for a chemist will be a part of research team and supporting the CMC team with primary responsibility to develop processes and methods for the synthesis, purification, nano/ultrafiltration, lyophilization, and testing of new carbohydrate-based products. They will support multiple indications and drug discovery projects, making major contributions to synthetic glycan platform.

Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

A scientific leader in carbohydrate chemistry/process chemistry who can design and perform experiments efficiently, independently and in a fit-for-purpose fashion for the stage of development (pre-clinical through cGMP).

  • Conduct reaction process monitoring using a variety of analytical methods and work with analyst chemists to develop appropriate methods.
  • Hands on lab experience in designing glycan arrays and multi step chemical and enzymatic synthesis of complex carbohydrates and cell-based high-throughput screening (HTS) platform to support CRO in scale up and process development.
  • Identifies impact of results on the overall Research and CMC development timeline.
  • Multitasks to effectively and simultaneously manage multiple CROs/CMOs.
  • Makes conceptual contributions to development activities.
  • Develops novel and creative solutions to overcome synthetic and manufacturing obstacles.
  • Experience in conjugating carbohydrate ligands to different moieties, nanoparticles, Antibodies.
  • Ability and track record of successfully working in cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in drafting, reviewing and submitting required documentation pertaining to the development and preparation of reports and documents.
  • Experience in writing and transferring developed technology to external CROs and working with suppliers to solve chemical issues for compound delivery.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and will prepare presentations and reports as required.

Qualifications:

  • D. in Synthetic Carbohydrate Chemistry/Glycochemistry or related field.
  • 4 years of experience working in Synthetic Carbohydrate Chemistry/Glycochemistry in post-doc/biotech-industry.
  • Candidates must display an ability to independently design and execute research.
  • Experience in Synthetic chemical glycosylation and characterize glycans and related molecules are strongly desired.
  • Hands on analytical techniques such as NMR, LCMS, IR, HPLC and other purification techniques.
  • Experience in synthetic carbohydrate process chemistry/chemo-enzymatic methods for preparation of glycan and tech-transfer to manufacturing would be highly desirable.
  • Synthesis of different ligands for drug-compound library, familiarity in chemo-enzymatic methods for preparation of glycan arrays would be advantageous.
  • Experience in carbohydrate polymers conjugation with nanoparticle, antibody-drug conjugates, and other delivery vehicles would be a plus but not necessary.
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects.

Education: Ph.D. in Carbohydrate Chemistry/ Glycochemistry or related field with minimum 4 years of industry experience working on Glycochemistry /Carbohydrate Chemistry research.

Work authorization: work authorization is required in US.
