Avesta Systems is Hiring an Activities Director Near Nashua, NH

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not intended to be a complete list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required.

Must be able to safely and successfully perform the job-related functions required by federal, state, or local law. This includes meeting productivity standards for the position and adherence to all personnel policies and procedures.

SUMMARY

Activity Director provides an ongoing program of activities designed to meet with assessments of resident abilities, and limitations, and preferences related to activities. The Activity Director will also assist in planning for and providing group and individual activities for the residents. Duties involve personal contact with a varying resident population and a varied work schedule that may include some weekends, evenings, and holidays. Tasks also involve progress documentation for MDS, other record keeping, attention to the environment, use of supplies and equipment, and maintenance of storage areas.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide a plan of activities appropriate to the needs of the residents that includes, but is not limited to:

  • Group social activities
  • Indoor and outdoor activities, as weather permits, may include a daily walk
  • Activities away from the facility
  • Opportunity for residents’ involvement in planning and implementation of the activities program
  • Delegate Activities Assistance to help with all residents for all activities
  • Music and Art program
  • Creative activities such as:
    • Arts
    • Crafts
    • Music
    • Drama
    • Exercise Program
    • Educational program
    • One on One attention
    • Promotion of facility/ community interaction
    • Proficient computer skills
  • Create a monthly calendar of activities written in large print and posted in a prominent location that is visible to residents (smaller version to be given to each resident, if unable to post in facility)
  • Coordinate the activities program with other departments in the facility
  • Assess residents needs and develop resident activities goals for the written care plan.
  • Encourage resident participation in activities and document outcomes
  • Encourage all residents that may need extra attention to participate in activities developed to provide stimulation.
  • Review goals and progress notes
  • Properly document MDS reports and Notes
  • Interact appropriately and effectively in one-to-one activities according to the resident's
  • strengths and limitations.
  • Be aware of individual cognitive, emotional, and psychosocial impairments.
  • Keep records of sensory stimulation or other type of activity and resident's
  • Physically able to perform duties such as standing for long periods, squatting, bending and lifting heavy objects

Obtain necessary equipment and supplies and provide for their accessibility through organized storage.

  • Keep supplies organized going through each unit to make sure staff is aware of supplies for residents keep clean and neat
  • Participate with the administrator in developing a budget
  • Continue to have community support of the activity program
    • Newsletters
    • Networking
    • Family involvement when able
    • Contact outside vendors for Residents needs or activities

Contribute to facility efforts to maintain and or improve quality of care through participation in the following:

  • Attend Care Plan meetings
  • Attend Department Head Meetings
  • Attend Mandatory In-services
  • Attend QAPI meetings
  • Attend outside activity director association meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned

BASIC KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION

Minimum educational requirements include a high school diploma or its equivalent and satisfactory completion of a training course for activity directors approved by the DHHS. May also be qualified therapeutic recreation specialist or and activities professional certified by the accrediting body or qualified occupational therapist. Budgeting experience,

Certification or licensure activity directors by DHHS and or Therapeutic recreations specialist or activities professional certification.
