First Brands Group, LLC is Hiring a Maintenance Technician Near Three Rivers, MI

SUMMARY

Performs a variety of highly skilled maintenance work to maintain structures, electrical systems, heating systems, plumbing, machine repair, hydraulic repair, etc. Work requires an in-depth knowledge of various trades. Repairs and maintains, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, such as fixtures, apparatus, motors, lift trucks, pneumatic tools, hoists, cranes, conveyor systems and production machines and equipment using hand tools, power tools and precision-measuring and testing instruments. Potential for after hours call-in to repair key equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Possess or capable of acquiring a forklift license

Capable of all Maintenance I functions.

Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.

Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts using hoists, cranes, hand tools and power tools.

Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.

Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements using rulers, calipers, micrometers and other measuring instruments.

Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs and straightedges.

Repairs, replaces, or reworks defective parts using hand tools and power tools for equipment and building.

Installs special functional and structural parts in devices using hand tools.

Starts devices to test their performance.

Lubricates and cleans parts.

Performs preventive maintenance according to time schedule.

Sets up and operates a drill press, hand grinder and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.

Maintains good housekeeping practices.

Repairs electrical equipment. Program and troubleshoot PLC’s.

Works with operators to improve uptime and cycle time of equipment.

Works with production associates to help set-up as required.

Janitorial duties as needed.

Required to know about and apply the Quality and Environmental systems, policies, procedures and work instructions as part of normal job function.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Required to have access to own tools and tool box. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

One year certificate from college or technical school; or one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus. May be required to work overtime or after hour call-in to repair key equipment.
