Position Highlights:

  • Training: We provide a structured hands-on training program
  • Experience: Gain some great patient care experience by learning to collect blood from patients according to established standards, and procedures

Job Summary

  • The Phlebotomist organizes specimen collection requests, performs patient clinical laboratory specimen collection procedures, specimen transport, specimen processing, testing dispersal, point-of-care testing procedures, and other pre analytic functions following established standards and practices.
  • This position will include scheduled hours at both Avera Behavioral Health and Avera Specialty Hospital drawing inpatients and outpatients.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed by supervisor.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Six months to one year related experience and/or training preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registration

  • This position requires a valid driver’s license.
  • Certification as a Phlebotomist Technician (PBT) from the ASCP preferred.

Work Schedule

  • Varied Shifts as needed; PRN
    • 4:00 am - 10:30 pm

Pay

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

  • $17.50 - $23.00 per hour
