About the Corporate Accountant
The corporate accountant’s primary responsibility is to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. The corporate accountant is responsible for general ledger accounting activity for all internal departments as well as the consolidated financial statements. This position interacts heavily with various levels and departments within Avenue5.
Primary Responsibilities and Objectives
· Ensure the accurate and timely preparation, review and analysis of financial statements
· Prepare and review journal entries, ensuring costs are in appropriate categories
· Review invoices for accurate coding and approvals and approve accounts payable batches before posting
· Communicate with leaders regarding their individual department financials
· Review expense reports generated in the online business travel and expense management tool
· Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations
· Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required
· CPA designation is preferred
· Experience in Intacct or other equivalent system is preferred
· Working knowledge of GAAP
Skills and Requirements
· Intermediate level knowledge with MS Office Suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel (including Excel functions)
· Intermediate understanding of accounting/financial/economic principles is required
· Ability to read and comprehend financial statements
· Detailed oriented and desire to learn
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to work independently and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
· Ability to perform advanced mathematical and accounting functions
· Ability to follow and apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is required
· Strong organizational and time-management skills
· Ability to multi-task and make quick and effective decisions
· Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills; ability to relate to others
