General Summary of Duties :

The JW Marriott Nashville offers recent college graduates a comprehensive training program designed to prepare them for a permanent role as a hotel operations manager. The MIT program is rotational, allowing participants to understand each department and work directly with our department Managers on a daily basis, gaining invaluable experience within the JW Marriott Nashville while being immersed into our company culture. This experience will consist of hands on training and in-depth working experience in all aspects of hotel operations including; front office, housekeeping, and food & beverage. MITs will also gain basic exposure to human resources, accounting, sales and revenue management. The program is approximately 12-15 months and upon successful completion of program, MITs will be offered a permanent management position that best matches their strengths.

Examples of Duties (includes but is not limited to the following) :

• Rotate through the functional areas of the property to gain an understanding of how each department contributes to the success of the hotel
• Learn the operational workings of each department by observation of Internal Guests, participation in meetings, asking questions, and special departmental projects
• Develop skills and leadership under the guidance of Department Heads and other departmental leaders through hands-on work and shadowing
• Complete tasks by utilizing and learning systems, tools, equipment, and software that apply
• Create departmental schedules, manage payroll reporting and forecasting, department purchasing and inventory controls
• Perform additional duties and projects as assigned

Position Requirements :

• Ability to speak, read, write and understand English
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Desire for a long-term career in hospitality
• Professional demeanor appropriate for a luxury environment
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, programs including Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint
• Hotel experience through either part or full-time work or internships required
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills along with competitive drive and initiative
• Must be a creative and innovative thinker who can bring thoughts to actions with speed
• Ability to work mornings, evenings, and overnight shifts as it pertains to the needs of the hotel

Education :

• Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management
